Thank you and yours is nice, too!!
Not that I am an expert like some here(Axver) in this area, but nonetheless, I'll make up endless speculation filled lists with the best of them. Most of the time when I make a list, I look at it afterwards and have 1 of 3 reactions: 1.)It winds up being different enough but way too light on hits and therefore unrealistic; 2.)I can add a song here and there but the structure of the political set always gets in the way and the whole thing does not wind up that much different; or 3.)It just becomes too damn long, and therefore unrealistic!
I think I made a GREAT list last night for once!! I would like to suggest that if U2 wants to fully utilize the claw and blow roofs off of attendance record breaking stadiums, that is how you do it. Come out and hit us with a bunch of rockers right in a row, including songs from Pop and don't let it up until MLK!! Screen expansion issues are not too bad- Vertigo and Crazy, TUF and COBL are still paired up so it is not the yo yo screen, lol! The political set is intact, as are alot of segues they have been using this tour. The encore is the same just swap WOWY for Bad.
I think I will toss around in my mind a little more the idea of pushing the political set earlier so as to give the show time to recover so to speak. On legs 1 and 2, it kind of seemed to go nowhere after Streets, at least in terms of crowd reaction. Of course, I think Ultraviolet was as brilliant as ever if not more, but lets face it, alot of people left thinking "what the hell, we heard Streets that's the best part of the show, Bono's getting all political, the show's been going for about an hour 45 now, how much time could be left? What do you say we beat the rest of these people out of here and get home early?!!" True story- I would NEVER EVER DO IT but I saw it with my own eyes at both Boston shows. Yes, BOSTON, where we usually all stay and scream for a 3rd encore for 10 minutes!!
So I really want to work with the idea of keeping the energy up with some early anthems like I Will Follow and New Year's Day immediately following Streets! Plus, I have always been a fan of the Still Haven't Found add on to end the main set at some Zoo Tv shows! Still Haven't Found has become the cliche "first slow song in the first part of the set" since Popmart and though I think it sounds the best it has in years on 360, it could benefit even more, I think, from getting a new home in the set list.
I just hope we see some changes. Most of the ones suggested by you and others in this thread are realistic and keep in mind U2's history. What frustrates me about 360 is, as we can see in this thread, they are a few tweaks and rearrangements away from an awesome set truly fitting of the claw!!
