And, yes, oneblood is right to point out his objectionable lyrics. Highly objectionable, in some instances. That is a big hurdle (oftentimes for me, too), but the insane, knowing stupidity of it all helps me overlook a lot of it. Killa is a strange, strange, strange beast. For example...

YouTube - CAM'RON-I.B.S.

Nothing too offensive, there...just...well, fucking weird.

This happens to be the one Cam song I'd listened to before. Good stuff, very accurate, as unfortunate as that is.

More classic Madvillain:
YouTube - Madvillain - All Caps

She's also right to point out Madvillain, though it's for me a record far easier to appreciate (and it's pretty fucking easy) than to enjoy. This, on the other hand, is from one of the greatest films EVER made--Killa Season:

YouTube - Killa Season - NO HOMO - AINTHARDTOTELL.COM

It is in your best interest to watch that shit to the end, and then to hop onto YouTube and watch the entire film, which has been uploaded. Amazing.

I just can't into the party/scantily-clad women bullshit. I don't care how good of a rapper the artist is.

The Madvillain shit, however, was very cool. Especially that comic book video.

The comic book stuff is a staple in their work, so if you liked that, definitely check out the rest of the album.

NSW, to answer your Lush question, no. I'll give that song a listen when I finally get the power supply for my computer speakers from my friend. Sick of these laptop speakers.

Please do. If you no like, so be it, but you might. Also, do watch a video cos you like cute guitarists and they had 'em.

I'll check it out soon.

In other news: Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros. Up From Below. I dig.

In case anybody is still interested, Cuban Linx II is just sounding better and better. I don't want to overstate my case, but this is the stunner of the year on two counts--first of all, the record actually exists; second of all, it is amazing. Beats are SICK!!!

Really, my only complaint is that this isn't the cover:

I could also have gotten behind this one, but whatever:

I plan on giving it a listen tonight. Both of those pictures are great. What's the actual cover? I think I've seen approximately 6 or 7 different ones so far.

Damn, I just looked over the list of producers, and no wonder the beats are amazing: J Dilla, RZA, Dr. Dre, Pete Rock, and Marley Marl. All on one album. Pretty fucking awesome.

When you bide your time for like 15 years, I guess you can amass some good ones. The official cover is the one I first posted, this wraparound:

Awesome in its own right, but a bit plasticy. I dunno. Just not quite my cup of tea, as knowing as it is.

Ah, okay, I wasn't sure if that was the one or not. I'd seen it on Pitchfork awhile back. To be honest, I don't like most of Wu-Tang's covers. Which is why I ended up using these when I found them instead:

I was the third brother of five,
Doing whatever I had to do to survive.
I'm not saying what I did was alright,
Trying to break out of the ghetto was a day to day fight.

Been down so long, getting up didn't cross my mind,
I knew there was a better way of life that I was just trying to find.
You don't know what you'll do until you're put under pressure,
Across 110th Street is a hell of a tester.

Across 110th Street,
Pimps trying to catch a woman that's weak
Across 110th Street,
Pushers won't let the junkie go free.
Across 110th Street,
Woman trying to catch a trick on the street.
Across 110th Street,
You can find it all in the street.

I got one more thing I'd like to y'all about right now.
Hey brother, there's a better way out.
Snorting that coke, shooting that dope man you're copping out.
Take my advice, it's either live or die.
You've got to be strong, if you want to survive.

The family on the other side of town,
Would catch hell without a ghetto around.
In every city you find the same thing going down,
Harlem is the capital of every ghetto town.

Across 110th Street,
Pimps trying to catch a woman that's weak
Across 110th Street,
Pushers won't let the junkie go free.
Across 110th Street,
A woman trying to catch a trick on the street, ouh baby
Across 110th Street,
You can find it all in the street.
Yes he can, oh

Look around you, just look around you,
Look around you, look around you, uh yeah.

What if they came out and played the remix? That would be puzzling and awesome at the same time.
