We Exist
Someone or several people wanted opinions and stuff spoiler-tagged, so I'll play nice. Although this is a question, not an opinion ....

We Exist
Nope, it's on the copy I have also. And at the end. And I agree it's
Huh, weird. But okay, I can ........
Descartes would disagree. I exist, but I can't be too sure about you.

Okay, what's that weird section of instrumental stuff? I paused it after Joan of Arc, and then started again with the Amazon tracklist pulled up so I knew where I was. And there was at least 7 minutes of weird instrumental music, and I thought it was the next song or two songs .... but then what was obviously Here Comes the Night Time II came on.
Does this film-stream have a whole extra section in it that's not on the album? I'll be happy if that's the case, because I was starting to get pissed that they wasted one or two long tracks on this weird stuff. Ha.
did I see somewhere that the album was somewhat influenced by the music from the film?
Probably not, but I could be proven wrong..everything Ive read indicates the music on the album was influenced by music they heard in Haiti, Jamaica, and on dance floors etc. haven't read anything mentioning Brazil/this film iirc
You also seem to be singing about themes from isolation to death and depression.
The film Black Orpheus is one of my favorite films of all time, which is set in Carnival in Brazil. The Orpheus myth is the original love triangle, Romeo-and-Juliet kind of story. Lyrically, it's not literally about my life. I feel like I'm kind of a bit of a sponge in a way. Like, if people around me are going through things, I find it very hard not to be empathetic. As I'm starting to get older, you just kind of see people in different stages of their lives. Like, you're not 15. It's not like, "I love you, baby," it's trying to understand men and women and trying to get to the core. I've never wanted to sing about "Oh, baby baby." The first record is about your relationship with your parents and your neighbors and I've always been interested in those really core relationships.
Wish I hadn't had such a crazy day at work. Maybe I'll listen after the game.
The absurdist journey of YouTube comments. What would Dostoyevsky have made of it all?
I'll shut up now.
Great album. I'm not sure which I'll like better, Daft Punk or Arcade Fire but 2013 is an awesome year.
The unimaginative dance album that never ends. I don't know what was more frustrating, the moments where they ape a repetitive Michael Jackson beat for six minutes, ape The Clash for the same amount of time...or just generally do nothing for 2/3 of most of the songs.
Still, can't argue with a lot of the hooks, lyrics, and especially, the production. It's a good album, just not a great one. Another one of those times when you wonder if an editor could have made it a classic. Similar to The Suburbs in bloat.
it may even end up being my favorite Arcade Fire album because they went a route that caters my personal music tastes.

...It's a good album
Good stuff. Although, he stole someone's basketball and told someone I know to fuck off, so his perception is a bit warped probably
I totally agree. Right up my alley in a variety of genres really.
