Have I ever mentioned here that I tried out for Jeopardy (twice in fact).
First time was right out of college they did a contestant search in Boston and unbeknownst to me my brother called in and got my mother and I both on list (my mother was a serious game show junkie). We went in to a room of about 500 people and took a test with 50 questions on 50 different categories. They took the tests out to be graded and Trebek came in and spoke to the crowd for a few minutes. then someone came back and read off like 10-12 names of those who got picked to go to the next round of testing...neither of us made it. We discussed quetions as we left, some stuff I was just too young to have known or cared about at 21 (I remember specifically one question along the lines of "First Lady Betty Ford studied dance under what famed instructor" and I was like who the F would know that and my mother says "I knew it, Martha Graham") , some stuff in my wheelhouse Mom missed (sports etc), we figured we should have cheated and pooled answers.
They came back here around 2000 sometime and I got on the list to try again. This time I passed the first part and was amongst the dozen or so folks that stayed to play a mock game where you had to ring the buzzer etc. They gave us details on what was expected in terms of travel to Cali etc. and then said we were in the data base to be called as they needed contestants....never got the call. Friggin' Trebek. Connery is right about him.

My GPS turned off on its own right before my turn. I had to drive on the 405 during rush hour for the first time. It wanted me to continue onto the 101, but there's only so much I can handle for one day. I'll take my chances on Ventura....

I took the test online once in 2012, and figured it would be about as tough as the show questions - I was wrong about that one, it was much harder. I read somewhere that it's deliberately done to give a margin of error for people who would fluke the test and then be way too dumb for the show, although based on that video it's certainly not a perfect system.
I'll take the test again next time, I figure. Worst case scenario I have a little fun with a tough trivia quiz.

Well... That was... Interesting. I think thats the closest I'll get to knowing what a Justin Beiber concert sounds like, holy crap do girls scream at concerts. If this younger demographic is what U2 are after, no thanks, what a bunch of idiots. Also her set was 14 songs with no encore

She actually wasnt that bad, her vocals were a little muddy and she seemed low in the mix to start but it got better as the show went on.

I had an incredible moment listening to Ibi Dreams of Pavement on the way home from the shops last night. I was singing out loud, playing air guitar with the headphone cord, music really is like a drug for me. If I could have one thing in the whole world it would be to be the singer and multi-instrumentalist in a band that just does covers of my favourite songs. I actually got really sad that there is like no situation in which I will be able to rock the fuck out to a song like that like I did, but in front of friends or people
