just for fun and I really do feel this way and am not intentionally trolling with my opinion

I'd take the Troubles live over One any fucking day of the week

eat that

A mood killer that nobody knows over a song that gets an incredible reaction from the crowd and has everyone singing. I could totally see why you'd pick the troubles over One haha.

Man, Troubles isn't even that good live. It sounds exactly the same as the album version but with a slightly longer solo. It just sounds better than zombie One because it's new.

Any leg 1 ZooTV/Modena/Mexico City/Sarajevo One destroys Troubles. There's so much emotion there, the band can hardly get through it.

Now that I think of it, One with an orchestra is phenomenal. Modena 95 version is one of my favorite live performances ever, but besides ZooTV versions, it's an automatic skip for me. I haven't listen to the album version in years and haven't even had any desire to do so.

I like the live arrangement of The Troubles. The sound of urinals flushing and the occasional yawn really add to the sonic landscape of the tune.

Pretty much the point I've been trying to make. It's a really good song BUT........

One was amazing at Slane Castle I thought. I base that on my experience watching the dvd though so....

the Holy Grail is now trending on twitter. U2 fans geeking out over The Troubles as if Acrobat had just been played

On the bright side something U2 related is trending. Mabe some young kid will see that and youtube it. U2's rep as a ROCK n ROLL band will go through the roof haha.

If we're all a bit jaded over One, having it close the show when you could have 40 instead isn't helping its cause.

this

seriously the song has bored live since 1993 aside from the occasional one off (orchestra) and it's sounded tired the last two tours. it's even off without Bono playing guitar even though I thought he wasn't contributing too much.

I get it, it saved the band, whatever. it's had it's time. The Troubles at least has that guitar solo.

props to the band for dropping it and not making it an every single night thing, they should consider doing that with every song save for Streets.

Did Bono mention crystal ballroom again? Report on U2 gigs says so?

Yep. Surely it's not trolling for me to reiterate my opinion of many years that One is one of U2's weakest songs.

One kept the band from breaking up... that alone should make you worship it... Kneel before, One!

...I'm starting to think it would've been preferable to have not written One, but whatever.

I love when people say they don't like a song, and someone argues with them with "You just don't understand the song, maaaaaaan!"

It's okay to not like a U2 song as much as everyone else, you guys.

And it's okay to love a U2 song a lot more than everyone else.

G'night from Seattle.

STOP BEING SENSIBLE CORI.

Oddly enough, I may talk a lot of shit here (including in this post probably), but I try not to on U2gigs.

So U2 played California ONCE in 7 shows in the state of California?

Twice in eight if you count the Roxy. But you're right; it's really weird. It's a very energetic song with relatable lyrics and a strong live version. I don't understand. But I'm also biased by my personal love for the song, I guess.

Haha I didn't mean it like that mate, just meant the vid I watched when the piano "broke down" I didn't hear them mention it

Beautiful Day into the Troubles is a little jarring, but if that's the trade off to getting Troubles played nightly, I'm all for it.

This might be the lamest #hottake, but if they're intent on playing Beautiful Day, maybe they should just close with it on the nights they're not closing with 40. it just seems like it would suit the encore better.

It is so weird. I agree with everything you just said. I feel really lucky to have been at LA1 to see it, because it's the one on the album I wanted to see most. But yeah, very weird. I hope it stays for the rest of the tour.
