Opening act?

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.
If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
So Brandon Flowers just announced his solo album release for May 18 - kinda good timing to be an opener, and the only Killers show commitment during the N. American leg is Firefly, which doesn't conflict with U2 dates.

I have a gut feeling you may be right.

U2 opening act JAMES

Ok, it's only a feeling, maybe a wish, because they are a brilliant live act, but I think it would fit perfect if the UK band JAMES would open the European U2 shows!

I saw them for the first time twice here in NYC during CMJ last Fall and they were fantastic. They are far less known here so it would make more sense for them if they opened in N. America. ;)

.... did someone mention Elbow????

They just wrapped up their tour for their last album, and it sounds like Guy Garvey is polishing off a solo album for later this year. So ... they're kind of available? I guess? #nottheirmanager

:shifty: So you're saying there IS a chance...

Imagine Dragons and Bastille because I want proof that they're not the same band.

I saw Bastille open for Muse and I can assure you nobody will want that to open for U2. Unless they have gotten used to playing for big crowds in the meantime... since when I saw them they had no stage presence whatshowever, and sounded messy as heck.

I saw bastille open for muse aswell. I didnt think they were that bad to be honest. Saw better but saw alot worse.

But yeah i wouldnt want to see them open for u2

I am hoping for the Soundgarden. Or Pearl Jam. Whoever good from 90s

Sure let Pearl Jam play their typical 3 hour wildly varied set every night then let U2 follow that.

And "The" Soundgarden is heading into the studio, or at least Chris Cornell is, conflicting reports of him going in to do another solo album while Thayill says Soundgarden is recording in the spring.

Well they weren't the worst thing I've seen, they were just incredibly meh. Not as Meh as Interpol, mind you, but just... boring. Definitely not interesting enough to open for U2.

Why has this not been announced yet? Theres only 9 weeks until the tour starts

Was wondering this same thing. The only groups I've seen perform without opening acts were heritage acts. Exactly what U2 says they don't want to become.

Anyone know when opening acts for previous tours were announced?

For the insane cost of tickets this tour there had better be opening acts. I can't imagine paying $70 to see U2 in 2009 and have bands like Snow Patrol and Muse open for them and then pay $300 this time around and have nobody open.

You gotta think the opening acts will be announced any day now, no?

There were plenty of $70 (before TM fees) tickets this tour. Also many $250+ tix for 360...

I'd happily pay more to see a longer (?) U2 show, rather than wait through an opening band I might not care about.

If U2 come out and be their own opening act and play a 45 minute acoustic set, and play a full on 2 hour U2 show after, I'd be a happy camper. I'd even be inclined to buy tickets to more shows!

If U2 did that, they'd be Pearl Jam.
