well, you can hear them sing "someone" quite plainly in the chorus of the song, each time it pops us. not enough to say "IT IS" Song for Someone, but certainly makes it seem likely.

here's the cleanest version we have...

To me it's pretty obvious in that clip around 1:43 or so that it's a woman singing

omg so i finally caved and listened...

you guys must seriously have bionic ears! i cannot make out a thing!

haha it's pretty bad eh?

if you can endure a few listens, the melody sticks, and the song's hook is apparent

I talked to Fisher on the phone last night about the Song For Someone clip and he told me about a time he was on a bike ride with Bono about 4 months ago.

He asked Bono if they were finished with the album yet. Bono replied "it's not over till the fat lady sings........wait! I have grand idea!"

The Fat Lady voice has been sorely missed, since about 1995 or so! Man, I hope this story is true and really is some indication of him using this again. I'm on board. Sure, he's done falsetto in more recent material, but there was something about it in the 90s that made it sound more soulful; not only that, it was just the right counterpoint to the heavy/industrial rhythms they were working on, at the time.

It wasn't more soulful, it was just better. His voice isn't as good anymore.

man, that Broken Bells record was a big disappointment for me..

I guess I can appreciate the production, but nothing from this record sticks with me. Right now I can't recall one melody line, nothing. What's the opposite of an earworm?

The single is the only one that stuck for me... All the other worms were dead on arrival..

I take back everything I said about concrete news before the end of this thread..

Hey, what's your take on The Kermit?
