Oh yeah.

As for Elvis Costello, the albums mentioned above are very good, but for something a bit more sophisticated I'd recommend Imperial Bedroom. Some amazing shit.

And I'm also a big fan of "modern" EC as well. When I Was Cruel is one of my favs, and Momofuku from last year was very good as well.

I'm really only interested in Costello albums with the passion of Tennessee Williams.

I'm reading an unbelievably awesome review of The Room on IMDB. It also references what Impy was saying about the sex scenes:

a lengthy lovemaking scene (not to worry if you miss it the first time, they show it again in its entirety later in the movie)

I've had my wisdom teeth out for maybe an hour, hour and a half. And here I am. You want to talk about a warrior? Talk about me. Right here, right now.

And you're still coherent. Has different effects on people, I guess.

pfan doesn't need drugs. They gave him a belt of whiskey and a strap to hold between his teeth.

It took me about a half hour to become fully coherent after I woke up. I'm pretty swollen on one side, the side that's still bleeding, but the other side seems like it's in pretty good shape. However, my tongue and lower lip are still 100% numb a few hours later, which is bugging/concerning me.

But yeah, the anesthesia aspect seems to have gone well, which I guess is good.

what drugs are you on?

I was on anesthesia during the surgery (I remember them telling me it was beginning, at some point being put in a wheelchair, and then waking up in some other room behind a curtain, that's about it). I haven't been on anything since then, I'll probably take some ibuprofen soon, though (I was waiting for the numbness to wear off, which hasn't happened at all).

Just to seem like more of a badass, I'm going to log in to work and do some work from home. That's dedication, gang.

A few random thoughts:

1. I want that DVD. Right now. What a buy.

2. Glad you're doing alright, Peef.

3. Just got home from my first day of bartending school. I just might be a natural.

4. Lisa Hannigan's Sea Sew is a magnificent album.

5. RIP Jeff Goldblum.

1. Cut a hole in the box.

2. The deleted scene is really just a version of the Denny drug scene in the alley. It's hilariously awkward and takes away the humor of the basketball by having a hoop be right there.

3. Be still, Cody.

I've had my wisdom teeth out for maybe an hour, hour and a half. And here I am. You want to talk about a warrior? Talk about me. Right here, right now.

Don't eat popcorn tonight unless you want your wisdom teeth wounds to become blood fountains.

I know from experience.

Who the fuck would think it a good idea to eat popcorn the day of surgery? That's like the worst thing you could possibly do.

I was still drugged up and my friends took me to see Kingpin. I had not eaten, someone passed me popcorn. Blood Fountain.

I'm strictly eating yogurt right now, though I may move to mashed potaters later on. Gimme the big 'uns.

Mashed potatoes, ravioli, ice cream... good times.

Blood Fountain would make either a shitty screamo band name or shitty a Eli Roth movie. Take your pick.

As far as psych music goes, let me know what you find IYS, I've been looking for some good late-'60s rock to listen to in that vein as well.

Somebody recommended I try out Silver Apples, a band whose reputation I have long known but whose music I'd never, ever heard. Well, I have given it a go, and it is not at all like the garage-psych kind of stuff that I've been working on digging up, recently (I have no idea why they were recommended to me, but it's all good); instead, it veers a lot closer to Krautrock and an early version of Prog music. Think of Faust and a less confrontational Can, basically. The first two records are quite good and freakishly ahead of their time (they came out in '68 and '69, which is almost unthinkable, when you hear some of the tracks), but not entirely up my alley. Very good stuff, just probably nothing I'm going to listen to 500 times, you know?

Check it out, at any rate. Some outrageous stuff, on these records...

...And while I know that their name is now a joke, Moby Grape's self-titled debut stands as a pinnacle of the era. Been listening to a lot of this, lately:

This is rather far afield from my own demands, but still good and still from the same era (if not same scene). Margo Guryan's Take a Picture:

Really pretty, late '60s pop music. Came out in 1968, and may well approximate the sound of a Lady Nillson. Except, you know...there's some consistency, here, and it's not all about good covers. Very good stuff, very of its era, and yet, somehow, also very modestly out of step. Most importantly, though? It's very good. I'm sad that I only very recently found out about this one. A damn shame.

Alright, so I've got a couple of days of absolutely nothing to do but sit here on the computer. What music should I explore out there in the universe?

I have nothing of his, so this might not be a bad idea. What should I look into?
