I thought it might be a littlecold for flip flops, but I'll bring mine anyway. This way I can wear them or my other sandals to the show. I'm doing jeans and a cute black top for the shows. I have 3 tops I just bought and I'm going to bring some sleeveless shirts too and I can wear a hoodie over them till the boys come on

I bought the hairdryer at Ulta today. It is no longer on sale but they do have a $3.50 coupon that you can use towards the purchase. I was able to get it at $15.99 because they forgot to take the sale tag off, I was able to use the coupon as well. The regular price of the hairdryer is $17.99. It is a Revlon retractable cord ION hairdryer, the handle folds as well.

Someone please pick a bar from the link Iris provided for us to meet up at. We need to get this taken care of, so everyone will know ahead of time what the plan is and if plans change everyone will know ahead of time. I hope i'm not sounding pushy

SO I've been getting my toiletries together, on the airline and tsa website it says one clear bag with toiletries per passenger Im going to assume they are talking about liquids??? anyone know?

i just got back from ulta, got a conair one for $14.99 (before coupon) with dual voltage and retractable cord...
of course while i was there, i had to buy the redken liter shampoo as well, because they're on sale for 50% off... :reject:

Cool I should become the spokesperson for dual voltage hairdryers

yea, i think they are. you are allowed upto 100ml of any liquig/gel/aerosol etc in the hand luggage that you take in the cabin, but you can put larger quantities in the in your suitcase that you check in.

All are welcome!

I am trying to find some other pubs to suggest as alternative options.

i thank you kindly, i think it will be good craic to meet U2 fans from other parts of the planet.
I know its hard to believe but i will be travelling down from Newcastle (a small town 30 miles south of belfast) with only one other person and she is american, nobody else in this town likes U2 except me:angry:

Yeah 100ml is fine, but it must all fit inside one clear plastic 'sandwich' bag, which limits what you can carry.

Excellent! It should be fun.

Regarding TSA:
Get a 1 quart Ziploc bag and fill it up with your liquids.

 I'll go ahead and take a stab at this. If it sucks, you can all flame me on here or pick an alternative.

Where: Oliver St. John Gogarty
When: Thursday 23 July
Time: 8:00pm
Website: Irish Pub, Oliver St John Gogarty, Irish Pub Songs, Traditional Irish Music, Bar Food, Office Christmas Parties, Temple Bar, Dublin Ireland

From the website it looks like a fun pub. Since I'm not from the area, I don't know which one to pick, really. I'll just follow along. I think the biggest challenge is going to be finding a place with enough space where all of us can fit. I imagine Temple Bar is going to be swarming with people around that time. I suggest we have an alternative place as backup in case our primary meeting place is too packed or not available or whatever...

A guy that I'm trading tickets with suggested The Stag's Head as a good bar to go to prior to the show. But I think it's not quite in Temple Bar. They have live music Thur-Sun. Should be a fun atmosphere. Are you all staying in Temple Bar? I'm staying in the Drumcondra region, which is close to Croke Park but quite a distance from the city center. I wanted to see if there is anyone else staying around my area?

I did that but that isn't inclusive of ther travel size items is it i.e..deoderant, toothpaste ? JUST liquids to carry on? I want to have all toiletries on me not in my suitcase...

Just curious, are you checking a suitcase in? If so, why would you want all your toiletries in your carry on? I keep all my toiletries in my checked baggage, and just carry with me the ones I'll need for an overnight flight: toothbrush, toothpaste (travel size), lotion, perfume and cleansing cloths.

I am checking luggage but if godforbid it gets lost I like to have all my necessities..

For perfumes I carry the sample vials that are handed out at the mall. Since the restrictions on liquids came into place, I do not even challenge it. If it does not fit in my Ziploc bag, it stays. I carry travel size shampoo, soap, toothpaste and shaving cream. Normal size deodorant has not caused trouble for me. I do not bother checking in luggage. Carry on all the way, if it does not fit, it does not go with me.

When I went to Florence, Italy in 2006, I purchased cough syrup from a pharmacy in Florence. Since I was not able to take the bottle on the flight, I dumped out the mouth wash that I had (it was a travel size) and I filled it up with the cough syrup.

Italian cough syrup can double as a mouthwash anytime... :D
I envy people who can pack for a week's trip in a carry-on! Between my clothes, sneakers, shoes, laptop and the chargers for my various electronic equipment, there's no way i can fit all into a carry on. and then I have to think about the souvenirs from Dublin... oy...

I used to do a lot of traveling with a previous job, so I learned how to pack light.

oh and did you really ask Edge to give you back your sharpie? :lmao: That is something I would do.

edited to add: I travel with Rick Steves' travel groups and it is almost a requirement to pack light using a small carry on.

here is my back pack/carry on I took to Florence.

Here's something kind of interesting about ATM fees while on travel...and good tip/news for Canadian travelers to Europe.

I think tips from those who have done a bit of travelling on how to pack light are valuable tips to consider. I've learned the hard way to scale down what I pack. Rick Steeves has some great tips about travelling light. He travels the world with just a carryon. You just have to learn to REALLY minimize, be willing to wear clothes repeatedly (I have a small can of febreeze I spray on certain areas of clothing to "freshen them up" and there are a couple similar products in travel stores to spray on clothing to take away soil & stink) On this trip I'm taking one over the shoulder tote/carry on that I'll stash under the seat (with my flight essentials-iPod, cell phone, meds, items to freshen up with, glasses, reading materials & valuables) and a small rolling suitcase that fits in the overhead, even when unzipping & using the 2 inch expander). My tote hooks onto the handle of my rolling bag so I just roll it all along behind me. :D I also leave things behind usually to leave room for souveniers picked up along the way and I try to do that last minute (like duty free airport shops).

As for the TSA rules it's always a good idea to check with them to see what the latest restrictions are. Any liquid, cream or gel you take with your person must be in the zip loc bag when you go thru security. It's amazing what people forget about on this topic. I also take small sample vials of perfume (or the packaged rub on samples) and sample size of any cream, gel or liquid. Remember you can also buy what you need at airports, hotel shops or shops once you arrive at your destination (or get thru security) and many hotels along with providing irons, tea kettles & hairdryers also provide small amounts of toiletries like shampoo, conditioner, mouthrinse.....

I hate going thru Security at airports. It's bad enough if you get stuck in a long que then there's the stupidity level of people in those lines. you have to take off shoes and practically disrobe when they insit you remove coats, jackets, scarves, hats, etc....so I just try to avoid all that, get thru security as quickly as possible and then stop at the nearest restroom to get myself together, change, etc. before boarding my flight. It's great there's so many of us sharing tips and information here. Thanks to all.

That is how I feel too, but I'm going to only carry aspirian, lotion, and tooth brush and tooth paste for the overnight on my carry-on. I also going to have a pair of jeans and a hoodie in there because it will be hot when I leave here and I can just change on the plane or at the airport before I go pick up my luggage. I'm probably also going to put my camera and video camera in my carry-on.
