October vs Bomb vs Rattle and Hum in a deserted island

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.
If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
October, the other two lack cohesion and October has a real sense of purpose and atmosphere about it.

Well Bomb is my favorite of the three, but I'd probably pick R&H just because it's the longest album.

R&H's shortcomings as an album (lack of cohesion, mixture of live and studio tracks, length) would actually make it the best album to be stuck on an island with.

I couldn't decide.

October because it feels liek aproper album, and the songs are very interesting. I listen to it less than the other 2, so it would sound 'fresher'

R&H because it's longer and has some gems like Heartland and Hawkmoon

HTDAAB as I think it has the best songs of the lot, but lacks a sense of cohesion.

If pressed I'd pick bomb

Well, Rattle & Hum and Atomic Bomb are both in my top 5-6 U2 albums, so either one of those. October is interesting, but hardly a great piece of work.

It may be true that those albums are the least-loved on this forum, but in the world outside of here (yes, there is one!) the least-loved are probably October, Pop, and (so far) NLOTH (thought it's too early to judge that one).

I would take Rattle and Hum, simply just because of God Part II and the live tracks.

Rattle and Hum, because the other two don't have Angel of Harlem and Heartland. Plus there's a whole grab bag of other tracks there, which is useful, it's like a mix CD.

While R&H has some of U2's best songs (Desire, Heartland, All I Want Is You), it's so poorly executed as an album. Love the movie though.

October does not have many Great U2 Songs, but it is one great album.

How to Dismantle An Atomic Bomb. My 5th favorite U2 album. October and Rattle and Hum are my 2 least favorite.

For those who pick Bomb, perhaps they are younger and this was an early exposure to the band... Fans who are older, who were around for U2's prime years (87-92 roughly), who prob saw R&H in theatres and also went to the JT tour, will most likely want to have R&H.

For the younger fans (and all those who bash R&H) listen to Heartland right now as loud as possible, then try to find a song on October or Bomb that compares and let us know.

Or try watching the live cut of WOWY off the R&H DVD and compare the sound to any Vertigo Tour version of WOWY. Good luck with that one.

It's as simple as this: U2 in '81 vs. U2 in '88 vs. U2 in '05 = resoundingly U2 in '88...

R&H all the way :up::up:

I'm sorry, I'm young, I love Heartland, I love Rattle & Hum BUT, I prefer Bomb. It's just a great album. And the first U2 album that I've heard in my life was UF. But Bomb took me. and, you can't say what people should like or not. We're talking about personal opinions.
(btw I prefer Boy than Bomb and R&H and October. But how it is not there... :|)

btw, I think One Step Closer is the best song ever. Try to listen to it loud. ;)

Whoever is stopping me from take those three albums with me will be properly exterminated and then I'll proceed to listen to the three albuns repeatedly.

gotta go Rattle and Hum. The bad parts in it are really bad (especially some of the live stuff) but the gems are incredible.

All I Want is You? Angel of Harlem...Desire...Hawkmoon...God Pt III

Some great tunes on there, as Bono says...

harley girl, i agree with you it is all personal opinion. i didnt say anyone should or should not like a particular album, i said it is likely that older fans would prefer R&H, but of course some of them may not.
