It'll come around Christmas. Don't worry.

And why are we still believing "Mercy" is going to come out. They already released it as a b-side. It's dead in the water.

No. 2 definitely sounds like it's "Breath."

well, I was starting to wonder if we'd have an album out this year. It's just way too freaking quiet for a band of U2's size.

May still come out this year, but the fact that there is division over when to release the album, that can't be a good sign.

Kind of lame. The descriptions given above are pretty exciting...making the prospect of 2009 even LAMER.

Edge says "Trying to weave it all together into a coherhent collection.....'Edge admits, "but yeah it has the potential to be our best"

He postponed the phonecall with Q for 30 minutes to finish the mix for Get Your Boots On.

Some work from Rick Rubin did survive

So that is the reason for the delay, maybe : making it a coherent album before or after Christmas...and finally we have one of the band saying this might be their best album. :hyper:

It will be November. In typical xmas cash-in style.

True fact.

Or maybe Bono is, in fact, too fat to release the album like that one article said.

The best news is that some Rubin work survived, and I Believe may actually make the album. :hyper:

I guess it has been awful quiet, but I know they're trying to boost their Grammy count, so they'd have to at least get the first single out before that deadline. Which is what again?

do we know when this interview happened? if it's in an issue that just came out or is hitting the press soon, the interview may be well over a month old. just a thought.

September 30. I still believe that's not only possible, but likely.

It may be vague but it doesn't point at a definite November "cash in/double Grammy" release.

If it's 2009, then what? March, ala POP?

Oooh...they could book the tour now and not finish the album in time....then say how unprepared they were when the tour starts.....

Then remix it, making it worse, 5 years later.:hyper:

Yeeeeaaah....I don't think U2 is going to do that again.

It'll be out in November. This interview sounds like it was taken in July; there's no new information here.

could anyone possibly scan the article or transcribe the entire thing? i know that's a lot of work but it'd be amazing

since it's a brit mag I doubt the new Q is at my bookstore yet

Delays.....

first Harry Potter, now U2. [seinfeld]and what's up airports?!?!?[/seinfeld]

There's nothing mentioned so far that seems to date the article at all. I'd assume it's within the last few weeks, but who knows. I'd be surprised if they printed something from July, except maybe the very end of July.

if it is indeed 2009, i just wonder what happened between "The album is finished" headlines from July to right now.

the songs are probably finished, just the mixing, marketing, promo events, photos, etc. that aren't set in stone. tracklisting could also be in question.

As far as I can see, Edge didn't even mention 2009. It was just assumed because, when this interview was taken, the band was still in the studio. Now all the complaints about the band sitting on the album in order to get it out during the Christmas rush have been negated.

...and McGuiness' "probably October" talk in late June.

By this time in 2004, we had the name of the first single and several confirmed titles by U2.com.

I wouldn't jump to any conclusions because of what Edge is saying. He has been vague with the dates since they started working on the album. I still think it will be before Christmas, there are so many indications for it. On the other hand, I wouldn't mind a 2009 release either, if the band really feels the album is finished. I just don't know how the tour will start if the album will be out maybe March 2009?! I am as excited about the new U2 album as any other fan, but if I can wait two months, I can weit five months as well.

I still believe it will be late 2008, though.

And does anyone think "For your love" is clip No. 4?
