P155 of the latest Q magazine has a quick chat with the Edge.

Confirmed tracks:

Get on Your boots
Breathe (Massive live rocker!!)
Moment of Surrender (8 minutes long!!!)
No Line On The Horizon

Album my be out in 2009 though!!!

Whew. No sexy boots after all.

8 minutes of "best song I ever did with U2" (Eno) ?

Album in 2009 ?

So I think it's safe to say that we know "Breathe" and that "Moment of Surrender" isn't part of the beach clips. Shame that there is no "Sexy Boots" after all.

And 2009. Please not. But after all we know Edge has never wanted to give an exact release date for the album, instead he kept on saying that U2 is really taking their time and that they don't want to pressure themselves with deadlines.

I still think it will be out in November.

Maybe they will release it by Spring 2009.

Wonder if MoS is the song formerly known as Mercy ? That was 6:30 long originally, and Edge did say they're still working on it...

Guys, haven't got access to be able to post the article.

Music has a 'religous sounding' on a few tracks..........

Edge has jut finished off an acoustic overdub for Get on Your Boots........"The Eddie Cochrane with barbershop harmonies!!!"

NLOTH inspired by a distortion box called "Death By Audio"!!!!

Opinion divided if the album is pre or post Christmas........

There is some dark, heavy stuff ut also some lighter stuff.

Breathe is a"F-off" live rocker!!!

I doubt it because the way Brian Eno talked about Moment of Surrender made it seem like it was a new track. Plus how do you go from a nearly completed song like Mercy to best song I've worked on with the band?

You're Brian Eno and Daniel Lanois and you pulled it off.

Does the article state the reason (unfinished business like Pop or Bomb, or more like differences in the band like AB) ?

edit: Maybe even a choice between a double album or not ?

the album is supposedly finished. at this point, the only considerations now are probably business related. i can't see them holding up the release because of tracklisting or deciding whether to include/exclude one or two songs. that would be silly.

Oh Yes, Edge says that 'For Your Love' has one of his best ever riffs........must be good!!!

so my 2009 theory is gaining steam. :(

not a surprise since we have heard absolutely no news about a release date of lead off single yet.

Bono said that bands should break up over tracklisting. I'm sure they already have more than an album's full and if they are in the studio like the post says then they are trying some last minute details to finish it up. It could also be that they took time off in August and now they are coming back and finding more things to tweak to make it better. They can still write more music, mix more songs in the time being if the album is released in 2009.

If the songs are ready get them out before Christmas and don't over produce like HTDAAB, however if they aren't happy like with Pop they should wait and get them right. Edge is always vague with dates.

Edge says "Trying to weave it all together into a coherhent collection.....'Edge admits, "but yeah it has the potential to be our best"

He postponed the phonecall with Q for 30 minutes to finish the mix for Get Your Boots On.

Some work from Rick Rubin did survive
