"The Violet and the Rose"

I'm torn between the violet and the rose
This great divide just won't leave me alone
Please my sweet baby wipe those tears away
I'm packing up my bags but I'll miss you someday

I wish my dreams had two hands to hold
Then this tired heart wouldn't have to let you go
A kiss and a good bye is all that can stay
My soul is on the last train and I'll miss you someday

Believe me when I say
Its better off this way
Don't try to reach me I'll be far
I've got to follow this star

I'm torn between the violet and the rose
This great divide just won't take me where I wanna go
Remember this voice as gentle as the rain
And deep in my sunshine I will miss you someday

This was inspired by Patsy Cline. I hate country music but there's something about those old time country tunes that scream simple yet effective. I wanted to tap into that musically and lyrically in this song.

"You gotta put the women and children first, but you've got an unquenchable thirst for New York..."
