Rock n' Roll Doggie FOB
Last Friday New Zealand began my 2nd favourite tour on the ICC 5 year calandar. New Zealand in South Africa.
The series itenery is as follows:
October 2005
Fri 14 (D/N) v South Africa A Willowmoore Park, Benoni
Sun 16 v South Africa A Sedgars Park, Potchefstroom
Fri 21 (D/N) PRO20 Wanderers, Johannesburg
Sun 23 1st ODI Goodyear Park, Bloemfontein
Fri 28 (D/N) 2nd ODI Newlands, Cape Town
Sun 30 3rd ODI St George’s Park, Port Elizabeth
November 2005
Fri 04 (D/N) 4th ODI Kingsmead, Durban
Sun 06 5th ODI SuperSport Park, Centurion
A three match test series was planned to follow however, the ICC in it's infinite wisdom decided to play the ICC Super Series instead, causing the test portion of this series to be played in April/May next year. Somthing too look foward too.
South Africa will be keen to erase all memories from their last encounter with New Zealand in South Africa, as well as the 4-1 humiliation they suffered on New Zealand soil the following year.
New Zealand will want to continue to consolidate their reputation as the worlds greatest ODI nation with Shane Bond, Jacob Oram and Daneil Vettori all returning from various injuries over the past few months.
It all shapes up to 6 very sleepless nights for this here New Zealander, and one great series.
Discuss.
