This site looks over TV broadcasts and it can be a lot more illuminating when you want to understand what creates terrorists than the standard Politically Correct piece on Al Jazeera that is shown so often on the mainstream media with little follow up (And yes I did watch Control Room)
An intangible entity has no ability to either permit nor disallow anything. People who either write religious decrees or permit them, on the other hand do. We've got rampant and poisonous fundamentalism in play here.
Death To The Infidel - man will those crazy kids ever learn
Good point about the wahhabism element, but the entire Muslim Brotherhood types go way back, it is not isolated and the concept of violent jihadist groups could be more aptly placed under the label Islamofascism. Now the term is charged but in some respects apt, their ideology - not religion - deems the rights of the individual to be surrendered to the state, all economic and social imperitives are governed by the state, the state dervives its laws and power from the Koran but does represent the same totallitarian structure found in Nazi Germany (not violating Goodwins law - a fair comparison in my opinion between a fundamentalist Islamic superstate and the concepts of Greater Germania etc.). Throw in the rabid anti-Semitism and total subjegation of the lesser races (case in point the extermination of African Muslims the Kafirs) the concepts of Dhimmi and you get a rather dangerous system of thought. The problem cannot be isolated to a single source, SA definitely has the largest role here but let us not forget the terror groups that popped up all over the Islamic world in the 20th Century that had little connection to SA, for example JI and the MILF (Moro Islamic Liberation Front) both of which have the goals of an Islamic superstate throughout SE Asia and parts of N-Australia. If you were to go back to the 19th Century nobody could have realized that the result of communism - for better or worse - would be the Soviet Union, political Islam has the same potential to sweep through much of the world however today nuclear weapons would be attainable by such a power relatively quickly and they would have no problem in using them to achieve their ends - dangerous times indeed.
Using that analogy, there seems to be a group that actively has the virus, a group that actively counters the virus, and a large group that passively accepts the virus.
