St. Petersburg Times: Huey Lewis on U2
January 14, 2002
Huey Lewis and the News brings its hits from the 1980s - Workin'
for a Livin', I Want a New Drug, Hip to Be Square, as well as new
tunes from the recent Plan B - to the Tampa Bay Performing Arts
Center tonight.
Q: Tell me a song you hear on the radio that you would have been
proud to write.
A: Lot of them: (What's So Funny 'Bout) Peace, Love and Understanding.
Q: By Nick Lowe, an old friend of yours. (Lowe encouraged Clover,
Lewis' first band, to relocate to England in the 1970s.)
A: Yeah, and he still is. Oh, Todd Rundgren's Love Is the Answer is a
beautiful song. Some of the new U2 stuff is really great.
Q: Have you caught the tour this year?
A: I was invited to a show, but my son (Austin, 16) had a BMX race.
