I bought a couple of boots on there before I knew there were easier ways to get them.
haha, me too. i remember i bought a boot mainly consisting of b-sides, and a couple solo tracks (like in a lifetime). then, a couple months later, the first greatest hits came out with b-sides! most of what was on the boot was on the b-sides disc!
oh well.
anyway, i really can't offer my personal experience because you don't buy from ebay but from individual people. i've never been screwed over, but that doesn't mean everyone has such luck (look at helloangel, for instance). the best thing i can recommend doing when choosing who to buy a boot from (if you do buy them from ebay), or anything off ebay for that matter, is to look at their feedback.
ebay has now tweaked their pages and they're more readable. it shows a percentage of good-to-bad feedback ratings. for example, i've had all good ratings and no bad, so mine is 100%. (plus i also have the number of ratings next to my name.) try to find someone who's got their percentage as close to 100% or at 100% as you can. you'll be less likely to be screwed. so many times, people just look at that huge number next to their name (showing they had like 2895 positive ratings) and bid, but if you don't look at their ratings, maybe they also had 796 negative ratings, and a ton of neutrals. so i go by the percentage.
if that didn't make any sense, it'll probably make more sense once you start looking at auction pages, so you can see people's ratings and percentages.
