U2's tall tale
U2?s BONO and drummer LARRY MULLEN made sure they were not overshadowed by all those Hollywood stars ? by turning up in platform shoes.
Sole man ... frontman Bono was stacking the odds
The band rocked the ceremony by performing Gangs Of New York track The Hands That Built America, which was nominated for Best Song.
As my picture shows, Bono, Larry and THE EDGE arrived at the do with their other halves. But single bassist ADAM CLAYTON went solo.
AFTERSHOW parties were subdued with many celebrities avoiding them, not wanting to be seen enjoying themselves at a time of war.
ELTON JOHN?s party at the Marquee club wasn?t as well attended as in previous years.
Guests, including NICOLAS CAGE, ED HARRIS and ANASTACIA, sat in a roped-off area where they chatted with Elton.
Security was extra tight ? even famous faces had to produce ID.
