That makes sense to me. With Larry's injuries, maybe they're aware that the band's days (at least, with it's original lineup) are numbered, and spacing out albums by 5+ years with a dedicated world tour each time might not be practical or desirable anymore, especially if future music itself is...

Yeah, I really like what we've heard of Glorify so far. It's got an atmospheric-hymn sort of style to it, which is exactly the kind of sound I could imagine for Songs of Ascent. I'm curious to know who's producing it. It could be the Lillywhite/Jacknife Lee combo they've been using for a while...

Maybe it's an alternate/in-progress mix of a new U2 song with Howard on lead vocals (sort of like 'The Troubles' with Lykke Li), and will be on the next u2 album with more Bono vocals? Or maybe it is on her new album, but just has a new name now?

I can certainly see the pragmatism behind dropping SoA in spring 2024 - it's supposedly a more meditative album which might not work in a live setting, or for promoting a tour. And if it's actually close to finished, they might as well release it if they're unable to tour for another year...
