September (NOW 23rd) & 24 -- Giants Stadium (East Rutherford, NJ)

For those of you who don't follow the Ticket Drops thread, all price categories including GA are now available for 9/23. Still only singles available for 9/24.

September (NOW 23rd) & 24 -- Giants Stadium (East Rutherford, NJ)

Take the train, no doubt. There are buses from Port Atrocity (41st and 8th) but it's midweek and you will be traveling during rush hour so the traffic getting out of the city can be nightmarish. The train for the Giants game this past weekend seemed to be a better way to get there, and that...

Will they sell out stadiums in the USA?

You're assuming that the Cowboys aren't sold out in advance. Dallas has a season ticket waiting list this year for the first time in several years, even though the capacity in the new stadium is 15,000 more than Texas Stadium. FYI, George Strait plays the first event in the new stadium in...

Will they sell out stadiums in the USA?

It's not silly at all. Look at the secondary market ticket prices to get into opening day at the new Mets and Yankees ballparks. Look at the way that the Arizona Cardinals went from 35k fans per game to a season ticket waiting list when they opened their stadium in Glendale. People want to go...

Will they sell out stadiums in the USA?

Not sure where you got the daily costs of each tour, but do off days count on your cost estimates? It's hard to break the cost structure down to a single per-day or per-show cost at this point because we don't know how long the tour lasts, and you'd have to amortize the fixed costs over the...

Will they sell out stadiums in the USA?

It might be a high operating profit, but the fixed costs on this tour are a beast. I wouldn't be surprised to find that the operating costs + overhead for the 2009 leg alone is over $100 million.

Will they sell out stadiums in the USA?

No offense to U2, but the opportunity to check out the new Cowboys Stadium is likely half the draw for a lot of those people.

    NFL schedule/U2 Tour

Whether the Jets still qualify as an NFL team is questionable.

    NFL schedule/U2 Tour

The Linc has it tougher than all of the other stadiums listed because it hosts a college football team as well. With that said, there are two early fall weekends where there are no football games scheduled and they could have hosted the tour: 9/12-13, and 10/3-4. I don't think anyone could...

Holding a place in the GA line

It depends on the act. If you're Fall Out Boy or My Chemical Romance, your average fan is something like 17 years old. Having those fans take the day off and sit out in front of a venue for hours to "earn" a spot on the rail shows that you reward dedication. If you're Springsteen, your average...

    Tour Rumours

They're rehearsing "The Wanderer" as an encore. Johnny Cash's ghost will appear in 30-foot-tall hologram form. It will be followed by "Wake Up Dead Man", thus showing that Pop-era irony is back in fashion.

General Sale March 30th for Chicago, Toronto, Boston, New York + PRESALE 2

You can still buy pairs at every price level for Gillette 2, including $32.50 seats that are in section 319 that are likely better seats than the $52.50s in section 203. No GA though.

Holding a place in the GA line

In the US on the last tour, if your ticket came through as a bomb shelter ticket, you could take one other person with you.

General Sale March 30th for Chicago, Toronto, Boston, New York + PRESALE 2

201 is technically behind the stage while 328 is not. Whether the cheap seats behind the stage prove to be a bargain or a ripoff is one of the great pre-tour mysteries.

General Sale March 30th for Chicago, Toronto, Boston, New York + PRESALE 2

Yeah yeah, I was speaking rhetorically. I also think that Muse as support doesn't help -- they sold out MSG on their last tour. There will be a drop for Giants; it's just a question of timing.

Gillette 2 GAs are STILL available. Why can't they do this for Giants?

General Sale March 30th for Chicago, Toronto, Boston, New York + PRESALE 2

For the general NY2 presale I tried for GA at noon and got nothing. I then pulled up four in section 234 row 6 - $268 each - at 12:05 and threw them back. I'll cycle through again looking for GAs a few more times but it's unlikely that anything will surface. Not saying that there were zero GA...

General Sale March 30th for Chicago, Toronto, Boston, New York + PRESALE 2

Hey, not nice. Besides, the only teams in MLS that will play in NFL stadiums next season are Seattle and New England. U2 bringing The Claw to Red Bull Arena as part of its opening ceremonies next spring would be pretty damn cool, though.

General Sale March 30th for Chicago, Toronto, Boston, New York + PRESALE 2

Good luck enforcing that in a 70,000-seat venue. No offense, I swear, but it'd take hours for people to get into the stadium if they were checking ID's.

General Sale March 30th for Chicago, Toronto, Boston, New York + PRESALE 2

Before the internet, they paid poor people to stand on line at outlets. Then the outlets introduced lottery systems for lines on on-sale dates, and in response the scalpers bribed the outlet workers to get their people to be the magic "winning numbers" at the front. Then, with the introduction...

General Sale March 30th for Chicago, Toronto, Boston, New York + PRESALE 2

I've been to enough shows at GS to tell you that curfew there is usually 11:30. There's no one who lives within a couple of miles of it; it's surrounded by swampland. Bruce played *much* later last summer (ended at 12:30 am or thereabouts) at a GS show that started about two hours late because...

General Sale March 30th for Chicago, Toronto, Boston, New York + PRESALE 2

It depends on the total showtime and the venue's curfew. Let's say the shows are 2:15 each -- if the venue's curfew is 11 pm, they'll go on at 8:40. If it's 11:30, they'll go on at 9:10. Curfew could be imposed by the town as a noise ordinance, or it could just be the point at which you...
