I just finished Surrender the Spotify Audiobook version - loved Bono's snippet of a SOA song with a near-under-his-breath "we should release that..." Makes me think it's closer to an actual release than I thought.

I actually went to the pre AND post 9/11 Elevation shows and remember him singing Please and talking about the lyrics after the fact (although he said at the show that he didn't think of it until Ali brought it to his attention but I'm just guessing that's some stage storytelling)

Chapter 25 (Wake Up Dead Man): They do talk about sort of the ultimate success of the tour and finding the songs there, but in the creative process it seems like they were all in agreement they had pushed a little too far. Mostly he just sounds downtrodden as he discusses it.

I mean... it's U2. They're not a startup. It's pretty crass. And the quality of their shirts are pretty much junk anyway so it's a double insult. My JTree 2017 tour shirt didn't last more than a couple of washes. Really lame for the $45 it cost. I also bought a pair of those $125 fly shades...
