Saw this in another thread...finally someone who is listening to the music.

Listening to American Soul in the context of the album and damn, I'm starting to really like it. This must be what some reviewers are feeling as they listen to some of the other songs on the album..."crap, I need to hate this."

To me Summer of Love has some Wild Honey and Fast Cars . I'm going to call it
"The Summer of Wild Fast Honey Cars of Love."

Someone earlier said that they heard A Man and a Woman in this, and I hear some of this too, but don't let that turn you off if you don't like that song.

Yeah I'm still not the biggest fan of American Soul, but it is a lot better within the context of the album.

I'm really enjoying Lights of Home...it has one of the few guitar solos on the album. But does anyone feel that the final repetition from Iris take a little away from the song? It is jarring to me and doesn't feel like it belongs.

I didn't even notice Iris in it, so whatever is there isn't so blatant as like what they did in American Soul.

I'm thinking that if we listen close enough, EVERY song on SOE has some kind of a musical/lyric sample or something in it that directly ties it to SOI. The songs of experience take a piece of the innocence with them. It's kind of a poetic statement.

Artistically I like the concept, but the result musically doesn't totally work for me. In Lights of Homee, it is the combination of the lyric and the tonal change that seemed like it didn't fit very well. I still enjoy the song, though.

Finally. It's out. 192kbps CD rip.

Edit: Don't have it.

You realize that your next post on this matter will determine your credibility on this site forever after. You're either the hero who tipped us off on where the early leak is or the schmuck who let everyone down with fake lameness.

So? What's it going to be?

Choose...wisely.

Perhaps a fully laden swallow?

Just the Bang
and the clatter
as an Angel
hits the ground

Not listening until it comes out. I'm sick of this "I need it now" world we live in. This is why we can't have nice things people.

(Not to mention they have officially released 5 songs in some way, so we got a big preview).

Either way it should be out probably by Wednesday. As it seems some cds have already started shipping to those that ordered it. After those cds start reaching the people it will not be long before someone rips it.

It’s all good. Everyone just wants the real thing and we’re getting excited. No harm done.

DONT download and share that link the audio quality isn’t even a digital download and I’m pretty disappointed with Koci for leaking it to the internet

1) that’s hilarious
2) you’re the original leaker
3) the thought never crossed your mind that someone might record the stream?
4) that’s hilarious

I would say Tuesday. It's a time like this I miss my old favorite record store, I used to be able to get new U2 from them almost a week before, those were the days. But, they closed last year. :sigh:

That sucks! I miss being able to walk into a CD store like hmv or smaller stores and getting an album without even knowing anything at all as to how it will sound. For u2 pop was the last album I bought of them without having a clue of what the album sounded like apart from hearing discotheque. The internet has made it easier to get info months ahead and to listen to leaks and reviews etc, but sometimes I do miss the element of complete surprise.
