A pretty large chunk of American Soul was just played on ABC's Saturday night college football game!

If U2 is playing Saturday Night Live (as rumored) on December 2, we will likely find out tonight. With tonight being their last show until the 2nd, they will usually say "in two weeks we return live with...."

We'll see!

Confirmed! U2 on SNL December 2nd. Historically, they’re one of the few acts that are given time to play 3 songs on the show. Typically it’s been 2 songs from the new album and then a classic. Now the question becomes, which 3 songs will they play this time?

Best thing, gooyow, vertigo. I kinda wanna say ordinary love.... they still seem to love that one.

American Soul, Blackout ............ and after rocking the house> One to end the show on a peaceful note.

The Best Thing, Get Out of Your Own Way, One

I think this is the best bet. With Best Thing still on the way up on the American charts, it’s hard to imagine them not playing that one. With Get Out likely the next single, that’s a safe bet too. I would say Blackout or American Soul are definitely possible as well.

Was it Australia 60 minutes who did the wildly flirtatious Bono interview for Lovetown? Or am I thinking ZooTV? He drove her around Dublin and he was so bad at driving she was shitting herself. Thought that woman was going to grope him. Bloody good interview though.

Pretty sure that was Zoo TV 60 Minuets.

In regards to SNL, I'm hoping for Blackout. If they don't play it...I gotta say I'll be a little disappointed. I don't feel strongly enough about the other new songs to set my heart on anything. What would be most exciting to me would be to play a song we haven't heard up to this point, like Red Flag Day, but we know they won't. I'd be down with Little Things again, but I doubt they'll go that way either.

If they get a crack at a classic for the closing credits I'd love them to play something energetic from their early days: The Electric Co., Out of Control, Gloria, Two Hearts. Wishful thinking, I know, but we know they can still rock those. What they'll probably do is play Vertigo, either not caring or completely forgetting they already played it in 2004. Either way, I'll be watching.

Considering that they didn't do The Blackout at Trafalgar Square, I'll be pleasantly surprised if it gets an outing on SNL.

If I had my way the whole set would be early rockers. "Hey, we've got a new album out... but the real question is, that Boy remaster in 2008, did you buy it? Because you should've. It's pretty OUT OF CONTROL."

I hope NT News takes over 60 Minutes's interview at the last minute

Yeah, sadly that's a good point about Trafalgar Square. Hadn't really considered that performance till you mentioned it. Still gotta watch the footage from that. I'll keep my fingers crossed cause I feel like they're gonna play a rocker, but we'll see.

Btw, love the Ian McCulloch quotes. Can't decide between him and Rollins as to the more astute critic of U2. Strangely both seemed pretty silent about the SOI release method....unless I missed something.

Astute? I don’t think that word means what you think it does.

 Wasn't meant to be taken as a 100% serious comment. I am genuinely amused by both their takes on Bono/U2 - some, but not much,of which I find to be accurate. Pleased to make your acquaintance.
