Larry's not on board...and Bono knows it.

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.

This is from 1987 - check out Larry about 3:38 in

https://youtu.be/6JLW8XNYW6c

Perhaps Larry is a bit of an introvert? Stardom doesn't make you the most comfortable, outgoing, extroverted person. Look at someone like Johnny Carson for fucks sake.

Didn't Edge said last year in Rolling stone or billboard that didn't they don't want to be an "Heritage act"?..a year ago?..not 25 years ago.

If this tour isn't an heritage act move then what do you call it?

Andrew's DNA reference is well spot on,

Can you imagine Pearl Jam doing an hightech production tour? I can't picture Eddie saying "Hey, we are not the same people we were 25 years ago"

You could imagine the reaction of the fan base.

like when they worked with Target for the release of Backspacer?

Yea, there were some of these...

... but most moved on with the understanding that the industry has changed since the early 90s and you have to do things differently these days. yes, i'm sure for some it was a deal breaker. pity for them.

Pearl Jam is also a band who, to commemorate their 20th anniversary, had a 2 day festival, a special edition beer made by Dogfish Head, a documentary film and accompanying album. And during the 25th anniversary year of Ten, on their tenth sellout in philly, they played Ten - from to back in sequence.

So, ya know, there's that.

Yet again, I'm sure there's plenty of Bowie and Prince fans who wish they could hear "Hunky Dory" or "1999" in it's entirety nowadays, even in lieu of new music or hipster cred or whatever.

I think any Bowie fan would have preferred Blackstar live and new music with that band over hearing a 45 year old album live.

Also, Interference needs a filter for the word "hipster." Maybe "meaningless word to disparage those with whom I disagree"

Album tours have been huge for at least the last 10 years, but they're still kind of lame and are an admission of artistic stagnation, or just a desire to make bank.

Still, the JT shows are going to be good, and that's all that matters. It's better that they tour a great album than not tour at all.

If the band really wanted to make a killing on this, this tour would of been sold to the Southern Hemisphere by now. 32 dates, excluding a festival date, is hardly a world tour. In the grand scheme of U2, this is a blip.

It's been rumored to go to South America in October and Australia in November. If it happens, it's probably still too early for those dates to be announced.

Too early? It is only 8 months away (advance ticket sales within range). And this rumor(s) has been something said by someone since mid-Jan?

If the Southern Hemisphere is to be sold a tour, its going to be sold an ieTour for stadiums, not this JT30 Tour. I have no facts to back this claim. :D

There was a rumor posted in the SOE thread that the South American dates will be announced this week. Maybe... we'll see...

I hope it's the I&E Tour, somehow adapted for stadiums. The rumors for Southern Hemisphere have all been for stadiums. Maybe some sort of JT2017/ I&E hybrid tour?

someone who didn't know that U2 were even a band would watch videos of them together and conclude that it's four friends. it's amazing that anyone can think otherwise.

and yeah, larry doesn't seem too sober in the video. that screwdriver he's drinking probably isn't his first of the day (in the spirit of this thread I've decided to treat my baseless assumption as fact)

Don't get it twisted. This thread quickly became about whether or not this tour runs counter to (as Andrew Cowley rightfully stated) the "band's DNA".

I supported that with a number of facts which was easy to do because it's indisputable.

I know that's upsetting to the "good times" "whatever all of a sudden" crew on this forum but that's just too bad.

After I blew their baseless nonsense out of the water the best they could do was make a bunch of unfunny jokes and have a circle jerk.

I'm sure they're glad you joined in!

For me, I can't really afford to lose sleep over the motives or comparing what they said a few decades ago with facial tics in recent videos. It can make for interesting conversation in these parts, but not to the point where it makes me dislike people for having an opinion.

Why would I care if the cyberbullies and trolls from the "whatever all of a sudden" crew dislike me? I'm glad they're exposed and I sure as sh*t wouldn't want to be liked by someone like that.

To the "whatever all of a sudden" crew...you lost an unwinnable argument on the internet...it happens all the time so get over it.

This is revisionist delusion.

You live in a fake news life.

redhill, have you considered the possibility that the truth is the opposite of your thesis?

i.e....Bono's not on board...and Larry knows it.

No, he's not. I actually think he about nails it.

The only thing blowing my mind is how quickly you caved in the face of a little social pressure.

You are so close to just typing "WAKE UP SHEEPLE." Only then will you have truly won this argument.

So Redhill are you going to continue ignoring Headache's well put post explaining the exact reason why people keep trolling you? If you truly wanted it to stop, I suggest read it and try to understand it.

But seeing as this thread has gone on for 200+ posts I assume you don't really want them to stop and thrive on the attention your act keeps giving you. Kudos, Good Game, Well Played.

Good one. Now the trolls you will find you so endearing.

Make sure to use both hands ;]
Lmao, alright then.

Always good to flesh out the ignore list every once in a while.

Strange to find this on a U2 board but I suppose it's decent entertainment every now and then.

Oh, I know why they troll...that's what trolls do.

And, nah, I'm not retreading. Let em' have their circle jerk.

They already lost the argument so that's all they've got left to hold on to.

I am brand new to the forum and I hate to be negative or critical in my first post, but TBH this video clip which I just saw, basically confirms my own feelings about this tour. Meh. Not sure where this band is going anymore, other than in circles. Larry doesn't seem to know either. Perhaps only Bono and Edge really know.

Anyway - peace.

See? This is the humor you should stick to, not the brown/ headache humor.

THIS is funny. You acting like there was a real argument to have won or loss, and that you won it is hilarious.

Welcome! Be as negative or critical as you like. Just don't get all weird about it, or you'll end up with bizarre threads like this. :)
