I'm with the optimists, all the hints are there although not sure bringing Lillywhite in fills me with much excitement.

If SOI tour restarts without confirmation of a new album, I think it might be the first tour I don't go to since I was old enough to go tbh. As much as they absolutely kicked ass on SOI, its all about the new music for me.

You could have TBT tied into Red, much like Invisible was. What better way to rock out a festival full of young people than to get them involved with AIDS.

Starting to feel a lot like February 2014...

Don't!

All this one-off single talk was generated exclusively by us, eh? Worth remembering.

Could still be all or nothing, this year

Could be a few new or reworked tracks tacked on to a compilation. Maybe "U2 at 40" or some bollocks like that.

What's interesting in that last U2songs post about DJ Khaled, is this line:
DJ Khaled: “We’re Up to something. It’s top secret. We can’t tell you yet. On another set. It’s gonna be legendary. Bono. U2”
See U2 mentioned there, not just Bono?

I dunno. After Kygo, this makes me think it's more U2 related. I don't see it really being top secret if it's just a thing for RED.

Everything U2 related is top secret..this album/single/movie/video thing better be some amazing stuff.

You need top clearance to be in the know...Apparently DJ Kygo, DJ Khaleed, and Morleigh's cat have such clearance.

Where's Howie B?

Maybe the iHeartRadio show will just be U2 in four chairs on the stage, with DJ's spinning remixes..

Or, they come out and say:

This is the song (Kygo) stole from U2. We're stealin' it back. Here's The Best Thing...

This has been said every last Friday and Monday for the last three months.

Say it with me guys: there is no new U2 material coming out this year. Playing iHeart and Dreamforce is relying on their legacy, not their future. They're big enough that they don't need new stuff at all times.

Lillwyhite mixing a single is certainly a good sign.

Could be The Best thing, could be a standalone song, could be a SOE lead single.

Right so that article is now updated with a podcast interview with Lillywhite, where he mentions a couple more details. He doesn't mention it being u2, but i think he's being coy.

Rough transcript:

"Talking of super groups, I might have some very good news for you in the next week or two, because i've been doing a bit of work with some old friends of mine, i can't say who - "

"Not Bono?"

"We'll see. But I've been working on something really special, and it's a great song."

So, sounds like it's definitely due in the lead up to the iheartradio gig, and it definitely sounds like the one song in particular. Whether that means the rest of the album is done, or they've given up on it for a standalone single is anyone's guess.

Great find !

My money is on TBT and it will out prior to iHeart Radio & played at the 2 shows.

As for the rest of the album, that could mean 1Q 2017.

I wish he'd said that he working on an album and not just 1 song.

hmmmm... very interesting. Not thrilled with the term "supergroup". That lends me to believe its possibly not U2. But I do like his timeframe if it is. When was this interview?? 1 to 2 weeks from then... very cool.
