Black Keys new album is coming out in a couple months. That was FAST. I wonder how DM feels about the 2 projects?

Here's how I envision Danger Mouse's production schedule going with the Black Keys.
Black Keys: Alright Danger Mouse, we have 10 demos for the record.
Danger Mouse: Alright, I'm pressing record, let's here them.
(30 minutes and 10 songs later)
Black Keys: So... what do ya think?
Danger Mouse: (presses stop on the recorder) Sounds good. (leaves studio)

Here's how they went with U2
Bono: We've got 100 songs we're pretty excited about.
Danger Mouse: Great, let's here them. (Presses record)
(4 years and thousands of songs later)
Danger Mouse: So, are you guys finally satisfied with this song? Let's try to finish ONE SONG!
Edge: No... something's not right.
Larry: I hate it!
Danger Mouse: Really? I think it's really good.
Bono: Really good is the enemy of great...
Edge: I'd like to do another overdub...
Bono: I'd like to delay the album an entire year to write a song for Nelson Mandela.
Danger Mouse: uuuggghhhhh.....

Don't mess with a Directioner. :giggle: You guys make it far too easy.

Ryan Tedder in the London Evening Standard:

As for U2, he says he’s worked on their long-delayed 13th album as a late addition in a production capacity. He’s not writing with them. “Bono is without question the single-greatest modern-day lyricist out there,” he says. “I hear it on the new stuff too — just phenomenal. When I started OneRepublic, U2 were up there as a frame of reference. I use Bono’s lyrics as a how-to guide for being the lead singer in a band. I have the utmost respect for their fans and I would never in a million years try to capitulate to where modern radio is at.”

Bono's ass is massive, so trying to kiss all of it is pretty ambitious of Tedder.

Great. Thanks. Now I want to die.

Also, is that last video a rip on the Sweetest Thing video? I'm not prepared to watch it to find out. Even on mute. If I bumped the volume up I'd never forgive myself.

Instead of Bono delaying tour and album by stuffing his face with pie, isn't there an oil rig he should be working at? Wanker:wink:

i think the the loss of ordinary love at the Oscars and invisible flopping (which is a decent song i may say)..considering it was supposed to be u2's comeback..scared the band..so they are back in the studio prolly changing the album..:reject:

How did Invisible flop?

You've been here for 14 years and your posts still don't make any sense.

OMG No one else has said this...

You are totally right, U2 had no idea they were going to lose. And yeah, Invisible was a total flop.

Just a couple of notes....

Bono didn't expect OL to win. He even said so.
And it's hard to measure the success of Invisible due to the free download.
With that said, we really need to hear a new interview soon from one of the band to see what they have to say about the album, preferably Adam or Larry.

Way less traffic. The people that remain probably know each other "better"'than in the past. It's hard to say if quality has improved or declined, but there's much less of it. A place like FYM has been hurt because of fewer voices, her discussions are remarkably similar to what they were in 2004.

Facebook sucks an enormous amount of people's time. Lots of posters used to come here for online interaction and community, now there are many other social media outlets.

Also, only releasing 3 albums in 14 years doesn't do much for U2 centric social media.

Another board I post at, the unofficial Flaming Lips board, where I have been a member of since 2002 has become somewhat fragmented. Due to the years and things like Facebook etc. Kind of interesting to think about.

How did Invisible flop?

Yeah, not only Invisible didn't flop, we must also consider they haven't done any added promotion apart from Fallon. Why? Because it's a charity song, not a proper album single, and I'm more and more convinced they didn't want to associate it to the new album launch, which at this point will have a clean start.

So, to be an isolated song, Invisible did everything but flop. Shaun or others could object it had a massive promo with the Super Bowl and the Top of the Rock TV performance, still I'm totally convinced that if they wanted, they would've pushed this ad nauseam as they can with their singles. Thing which didn't happen.

I sure hope both charity singles remain as such. By the time we get a new U2 album, it'd be great to have all new songs to look forward to.

Invisible did not FLOP! Neither did Ordinary Love. I'm so sick of constantly reading this. It's not true. Some people here are only trying to come up with their own theories about why the album's taking so long. The songs did very well considering they weren't single releases. The performances were well received. Please stop downplaying it. U2 can only hope for their new songs and singles to be received like that.

I'm still hearing OL a lot on the radio here, which is special, because they don't play much U2 at all.
