Oh so it's actually his birthday then?

Happy birthday, Scums. I won't download anything today, I promise

Mmmm...BREAKFAST.

He would send Bono's hat to Pluto if he thought breakfast was being served there.

It's racked up a lot of frequent flyer miles

Maybe it's because I hated Port of Morrow so much, but Wincing the Night Away sounds incredible to me these days. I don't know what the deal is.

Its handprint on the concrete slab of the history of my time living on this earth must have dried.

Leave Home by The Men: much, much weaker than Open Your Heart. I was disappointed. It's got a great, hefty sound and the instrumentation is competent, but the material is lackluster. It's like they all started playing without writing anything first so they just cycled through riffs and chords they knew until they had enough for an album.

Listening to Celebration Rock now. 8 great songs played loud and carefree. Rock on.

My copies of the new Grizzly Bear and Tame Impala are finally within an hour of me. Which means they should be delivered tomorrow! Which means after work tomorrow I'll finally get to hear them! :hyper:

I still haven't heard it, man.

Thanks for the birthday wishes earlier, guys. Much appreciated. Every year sounds so much older in my head these days.

Scums, Imps, any others - your thoughts on Until the Quiet Comes, if you've heard it?

Have I not commented yet? That's not a good sign, I guess.

Pretty soulful, subtly funky record. It sounds good on headphones. I don't know, it didn't broadside me the way Cosmogramma did, but that doesn't say much about its quality. I've only heard it a couple times anyway, I need to spend more time with it.

It is good on headphones. It's certainly not catching me like it's predecessor though.

Mofo is old.

Jean-Ralphio has just been cast in Arrested Development.

Almost my thoughts exactly. It's an accomplished record without doubt. Cosmogramma is a tough act to follow, though.

Ok team. I have a modern political ideologies exam in a few hours. I've got my head around most ideologies, but socialism and liberalism still kind of deceive me. If you would care to help old cobbler out, I promise not to make any RMT threads for the rest of the year. That's a big prize.

This could be one of the questions on the exam:

How do social liberals and neo-liberals disagree in their interpretation of classical liberal principles? Is there any base for cooperation between neo-liberals and social democrats?

All I've got is that liberalism is the idea of liberty, freedom, equality for all people. Social liberals say the state must ensure that issues like welfare and civil rights are being looked after. Neo-liberals argue for no government involvement in people's affairs unless it's absolutely necessary. Social democrats argue for social rights for all citizens. But I don't know how to relate it to classical liberal principles. Am I anywhere near the mark? I don't even really know where to start.
