U22 ♫ Part 2

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.
If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
I'm glad they chose one of the (or is it the only?) version where Bono references Slide Away for AIWIY/LRM, things like that geek me up a bit.

Oh, the irony...

New Email from U2.com:
U22, the live CD set from U2360° - with tracks chosen by you our subscribers - is just about with us.

It's looking good for an early May release - we'll be emailing everyone who's resubscribed for the coming year as soon as we have final details.

Meantime, we've now added another DOWNLOAD from 'U22' and they don't come any more special: 'All I Want is You/Love Rescue Me' . (Take it from us, it's spine-tingling...)

So if you've resubscribed to U2.com for 2012 you can now download THREE TRACKS immediately - 'Even Better Than The Real Thing' and 'One Tree Hill' are also ready to go. Log-in as a subscriber, click on the 'Account Info' button at the top of the page and that brings up the download link.

(Subscription not up for renewal just yet? If you plan to extend it you can resubscribe now, a further 12 months will be added to the end of your existing subscription period and you can access those downloads immediately.)

With the band out of the public eye and in the studio, we're introducing some new features for subscribers, including the return of 'My U2 Playlist'.

First up take a look at the 14 tracks that producer Garret 'Jacknife' Lee (left) selected as his all-time top U2 tracks.
Then see - and hear - the tracks Daniel Lanois has on his.

Finally, get on your boots with Adam later this month - he's taking part in Walk In My Shoes day, raising the profile of mental health services for young people in Ireland.

More from us very soon.
best wishes

The U2.com Team.
Early may.. hm...

Hopefully, they choose tracks based on the best available audio sources. This would mean that a large chunk of them could be pulled from the Rose Bowl DVD/Blu-Ray. Obviously, this is what the fans want, so I hope it happens.

There was a list floating around with the dates and locations of each song performance, and I don't recall any from the Rose Bowl show. Most of the tracks are from the 2010-2011 concerts, which is just as well if not better. Supposedly U2 record every show, and no doubt it's of the highest quality directly from the soundboard. If only they'd allow fans to purchase those recordings of entire shows like other bands do...

Slightly off topic, but my 2011 subscription expires in August and I'm thinking of renewing early for 2012 to get U22. I haven't used my 2011 discount coupon yet. Does anyone know if I will lose that if I renew early or will I have coupons from both subscriptions? :hmm:

You'll lose the coupon I think. Otherwise, they're only valid for a year so it'd disappear in august. I don't think I ever had two coupons at the same time. Not that I ever use those things anyway..

None of the tracks are sourced from the Rose Bowl DVD.

I downloaded AIWIY/LRM when it was first available, but didn't actually listen to it until today. It's fantastic, but I'm wondering why, exactly, these two songs were combined into one track? I assumed it was because they were actually combined in a medley, but that is not the case. AIWIY ends in classy fashion with snippets of "Need You Tonight," "Never Tears Us Apart," and "Slide Away." Then there is a clear break/gap before the band starts playing Love Rescue Me.

I'm not complaining. This means we actually get an "extra" song on U22. I'm just wondering what was behind the decision to combine these two songs, out of all of them, into one track--because again, they are actually two separate songs and not a medley. You could do the same thing with pretty much any two songs from the same show and it would have the same effect.

How bad is this u2.com service :) how long does it take to burn a few thousand cds?

The worse thing in all this is i always pay to renew just shows that bono and co have me right were they want me!

Im a mug:)

They just emailed that the CD is going out by the end of the month, and we can download Unknown Caller! (Which didn't make the cut!)

But the download link doesn't seem to be working?

Ok. It's finally downloading. It also says on the website that they'll be making 8 more tracks available on the 30th. No idea if they're from the album or more bonus tracks...

This is the best part about the newsletter:

"And on May 30th, everyone who's resubscribed for 2012 will be able to download EIGHT more tracks."

Maybe they do read these forums....hmmm.

Link didn't work for me either. I had to go to my account info through U2.com's website instead of the email link to get it to work.

I'm very curious about the 8 additional downloads on May 30th. I wonder if they're preselected for us, or if we get to choose them? Either way, that's pretty cool, so long as its not 8 more downloads from the actual cd.

It wouldn't make any sense for the 8 tracks to be from the CD's. Anybody can rip MP3's these days so it seems redundant. It's gotta be 8 tracks not selected. At least that's what I'm convincing myself of!
