Ah. Well, hey, fair enough reasoning, strangers by their very definition can make someone feel really nervous/shy/awkward/what have you. I totally understand that.
:D

Go figure cats :p. My sister's cat likes to curl up on pizza boxes (or in them, if they're empty). And mine likes to lay on my mom's purse (it's one of those bigger bag-style purses), or her clothes, or piles of random paper that might be on the floor... I fail to see how that can be remotely comfortable, but if it works for them, what the hey ?

Ohhhhhh, I see. Eesh. Well, that's at least an explanation for the behavior, not that it really makes things better. Perhaps that's her way of trying to block out whatever crap happened in their childhoods or something? I dunno. But that suddenly makes the whole thing very sad to me.

Wow. Ugh. Yeah, mean drunks are one thing and suck enough as it is, but the whole "not being around kids" thing is particularly troubling. I can certainly see why you want to distance yourself from such a group, I'd be scared to be around that regularly, too. I think your comment about your grandfather is quite true-it does seem like some of the nastier people in the world seem to stick around longer than the nice ones for some reason or another, so I would've probably thought the same thing, too.

That's okay. I feel bad now for even getting you into all this discussion, I didn't mean to get you onto that sort of thing, given it seems a difficult topic. But you do have my sympathies, I'm sorry that you have to deal with that sort of crap . I hope somehow things work out for you and your mom and brother on the family front, even if just by getting your things back and moving on and focusing on a happier life for you guys.

Cats are so weird. I think that's why I get along so well with them.

Honestly, it doesn't bother me to talk about it; I never had much contact with any of them any way. I know it bothers my mom to talk about them, so I don't ask. Unless it's about other extended family; she seems okay talking about them, which is awesome for me. :hyper:
My mom (and dad) had long since decided to keep me and my brother away from her oldest brother, which, again is fine by me. The only thing I have in common with him (besides my mom) is a love of peppered beef jerky.

Also, thanks for the email.

I could use some hugs right now.

Going through a hard time right now. Basically a broken heart :sigh:

ZooLarry offers comfort.

Home now with my "new" TV! It's so stinking tiny! :cute:  I'm going to hook it up fairly soon here - I just need a nap first. It was so fun to get together with my friend for a few hours. She cooks a MEAN breakfast! But it meant getting up earlier than I normally do on a weekend, and now I'm sleepy.

But before I go to sleep, this is for Kristen:

UNF.

Hope that cheers you up a bit!

Put on your best dress baby
And darlin', fix your hair up right
Cause there's a party, honey
Way down beneath the neon lights
All day you've been working that hard line
Now tonight you're gonna have a good time

ooh Sharon, I know the picspam was for Kristen but we can ALL appreciate it, right?

So I went mountain biking again today. :shifty: It was sooooo fun and soooo hard and I toook one fall, but it was a pretty major one. Couldn't move my foot for a minute and that really freaked me out but it turns out that was because I'd hit my calf on a rock and it just cramped up, like a charlie horse. I was able to walk it off. So glad I was wearing capri length pants b/c my knees got pretty banged up. Icing it now - will ice the heels of my hands in a minute. I feel like such a badass!!! But every time I look down, I see another bruise!

Thanks, Kristen! :D

ABSOLUTELY, zu! I think the three of us appreciate him most, so the oggling is open to all.

Bruises are like badges of honour! :D

So my "new" TV is set up and working fine. It's SO much smaller than my other one, so it's going to take me a bit to adjust to the smaller screen. Oh well, it's better than no TV! My old TV is sitting in the middle of the living room, because I almost threw my back out trying to move it - it's SO damn heavy. I'm going to have to move it eventually, but not now. Ooof.

TVs are heavy as hell! Glad you have a working one though. I don't watch much but sometimes it's really nice to just veg in front of the tube.

I hadn't moved this TV since I first got it. I wasn't expecting it to be THAT heavy. :crack: I think I might have to get my landlord in to help me move it out of here, because I can barely lift it an inch off the floor. I'm going to have to do some research and find out if there's a place I can take it to be responsibly recycled (if that's even an option), rather than just taking it to a dump or something.

I watch a LOT of TV, but that will all be changing now that I'll have something to do during the days. I'll still be watching TV at night, but no longer in the middle of the day. So long Ellen - it was nice watching you while I could.

Put a pretty cloth over it and call it a coffee table!

Thanks : hug: It's a boy broken heart.

   Stoopid boys... let's see, I must have some Larry pics somewhere.

*rummages*

I dunno if someone's posted these already, but I hope you won't mind a double dose...

Thanks! : ) It will be so nice to get out of the house every day and interact with people again.

Congrats on the job!

I missed Ali???? And somehow in catching up this morning I missed her post too. Awesome news about the band, Ali! How'd it feel playing for a crowd? Did you get a new cable already?
Miss you!!!

Miss you too! And yes, I got a new cable yesterday. I already had one before I got the broken one, but that was too short (only 10 feet - why we measure cables in imperial measurements I don't know. 3 metres, anyway). The new one is 20 feet/6 metres.

As for playing for a crowd... I was pretty nervous, but with the lights I could hardly see anyone in the audience, and it was nice to hear some clapping after we finished a song!

(We had two U2 songs in the set, Crazy and NYD - it's good to be in a band with another U2 fan!)

Wow, you ARE such a badass! How did you go, bruises aside?

Well, I have an interesting situation!!

You know how almost everyone has that guy that you almost started something with, but didn't, but then later you're like "Crap! Why didn't I go there??"

I just found out this dude Nick, who quit working at Dixie Stampede right before I started (like...10 years ago) is no longer touring with Kenny Chesney and has started touring with his own band, and will be playing like an hour from me later this month.

I haven't talked to him in over a decade, y'all. And even then we didn't talk often (or for that long) because he was on tour. There's a 99% chance he has no memory of me. So probably no point in getting in touch and checking out his show, right?

On the other hand, the years have been good to him.

To go or not to go??

I find that no matter how shitty life can be, you guys are always here to cheer me up. So it's only natural to return that.

I've asked a few places already if they're hiring.. none atm. Bad timing, ugh. So I just posted a notice on FB if anyone knows something. I think I'll try the theme park anyway, it's not many hours, but it's not like I get better hours at my current job. It'd at least be work from april-october, and I could get my Master's payment for the year from it, so that could be worth it.
