I loved AMAAW......finally...got to hear this.

I laughed out loud at the black people comment. I'm black. It was funny.....

Gosh I love these guys.
 
About Bono's comments/jokes, I thought he seemed a little tired and cranky when he was talking about hits. If he had just come from Ireland, he would've had some serious jet lag. Either that, or he was a little drunk. But if that were the case, he probably would have fallen off of that narrow catwalk they had there. :wink:
 
I don't want to get involved in heavy psycho-analysis of Bono, but honestly, he seemed a little off through the whole performance to me.

Yeah, I think I agree. There was something just kind of weird about the whole thing. "Off" sounds about right, for whatever reason.

Poor guy. I guess the creative inner turmoil of mapping out their next era is weighing heavy on him:ohmy:
 
what kind of guitar has edge got on one?
if i recall isnt this original gitar one was recorded with..
on 360 he used other im sure

I don't think he was drunk, but cranky, yes, definitely. I was surprised about how serious he seemed the whole time, not much laughter. Don't get me wrong, he was very good and showed a lot of passion, seemed to be very much into the performance, but he also looked a bit too serious for my liking. I hope he isn't in pain or anything because that's how it came across to me. Maybe he just had a bad day and someone got on his nerves or something. His "hits" comments, the NLOTH reference and the "dig" at Jimmy Iovine, which I do not undertand at all, kind of sounded really bitter, not very ironic. He might have had a bad day personally, but his performance was really good.

funny u should say that because i thought he was in better spirits then usual and very funny, poking fun at the 'non hits' and the bits about the string section girls and edge and his 'beats'

Actually, no. But now it quite could have been subconsciously..........maybe.

When I first met Bono during the Vertigo, AMAAW was the song that I sang for him. I always loved it the tune and afterwards AMAAW was the song I kept singing to him for him to remember me.

I would substitute the word "sister" with "brother"......and he wrote on my picture "Heh little brother....take the heat from the sun".

I never consciously got the license plate for that reason....but perhaps it might just be that reason deep down.....

I'm not sure about recording, but that's the guitar (I forget what it used) that Edge played One on throughout ZooTV and PopMart. He switched to a Les Paul at the beginning of Elevation, when (probable correlation?) One was played next to Walk On, which needed a Les Paul. The Les Paul stayed in Vertigo, often a Music Rising Les Paul. On 360, if my memory serves me right, Edge played One on the original guitar for a little while and then switched back to the Les Paul, for whatever reason.

Yeah true, that was funny indeed, but in a very "dry" way. Bono seemed very serious overall and the "hits" statements didn't sound like the way his jokes usually do. But maybe I'm just overanalyzing things.

Well, Bono was pretty petty, absurd, and extremely arrogant. It was unbecoming of a dignified adult. Really, it was more annoying than any Rattle and Hum banter. Who calls their own song beautiful? Richard Aschroft, that's who. Bono is turning into Richard Ashcroft, and not Ashcrot circa 1993. With a smidgen of late 90s/early 00s Billy Corgan with the whining about hits. Really poor company!

Jimmy Iovine is the moron who runs their label.
 
Regarding the Iovine comment, none of us knows what's going on there. For all we know, being in LA, they had lunch with Iovine and he spent the whole time telling them how the next album needs a lot of hits. That said, the Hollywood Bowl is not the place to air out any issues they might have.

Or maybe he told them that No Line needed more "hits" and suggested the wretched tracklist or something. Anyway, he's an idiot but if they listened to him then they're even bigger fools.
 
Geez! Don't you people have other things to worry about? Like life or something.Why is it so important what he said,how he said it,what was in his mind etc.Overanalyzing everything-what's the point?:doh:
