October 25 - Rose Bowl, Los Angeles

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.
If you have answers, please help by responding to the unanswered posts.
Although I loved the show, my boyfriend was somewhat disappointed to not hear "Pride", even though I showed him the anticipated set list beforehand.

I do have to say they could have ended the show on a better note, one of their classics. "Moment of Surrender" is a good song, but it's not exactly a song that lends itself to pumping up a crowd.

I've chosen to concentrate on the parts of the show I did like, because overall it was still a wonderful experience. Other concert-goers are more negative; they like to focus on whatever didn't work for them. And of course, there are always the people who will complain no matter what!

Also, I made sure to do my "homework" before the show. I had listened to the songs I knew we'd hear from "No Line...", and I already loved and was looking forward to "Magnificent". I like to be able to sing or at least hum along! :D I'm sure that improved my experience as well.

The throngs of people made logistics difficult (trying to find something to eat or a porta-potty without a long line!), but those same throngs made it a thrilling, unforgettable night for me. I'm not sure what most people were expecting from a stadium show, but U2 delivered it as far as I'm concerned!

I want to know more of people's opinion (the ones who actually attended from this forum) about the show. Man, I keep reading mixed reviews in the L.A. times etc. I'm kinda shocked to be quite honest. I don't think I've read the most negative reviews about their shows thus far. Anybody here that didn't enjoy the show... for whatever reason?

As I just stated in the Vegas thread, I only had my cell phone so my pics were all kind of crappy. Here's a couple of semi-decent ones though from near the end of the show after we left the pit and went to the back.

And Fitz, I made it into your sig!!!!! :hyper: *blush* :hyper:

You're famous! :hyper:

Ethan...I  you. Like. A lot.

Add me to the fan club

Wow. *blush* Thank you so much.

I was texting with Outsider earlier and I told her: "Honestly, the awesome Interferencers made the shows about 1000 x more fantastic. I told Carlos that part of why I think Vegas was better for me than Rose Bowl is because for Rose Bowl, I was in the inner circle all by myself (well, figuratively, not literally), whereas in Vegas, Carlos was right next to me . . . and having a great friend right next to me made all the difference in the world."

I did Vertigo tour Vegas show at the MGM by myself, and it was a great show . . . but it PALED in comparison to these shows where I was fortunate enough to be surrounded by such warm, caring, funny, good people. I thank all of you (you know who you are) for making my experience exponentially better.

William Fitchner was there too in GA.
When I was waiting for the BEP to come off, (I got a hand shake from Fergie and Will.I.Am), he entered with security and hung round while it was clear.
I also saw Bobby Shriver near the pit entrance under Adam's bridge.

i can't add much to all of the pictures that have been posted over the last few days, but i don't remember seeing any of the wristbands.

i posted a quick description on sunday, here's what they looked like:

That being said, I think Vegas was the better U2 show - but that the Rose Bowl was the better U2 experience. Does that make sense?

Makes sense to me. If you were to take the crowd, setting, environment and "big eventness" out of the equation, the Vegas show might come out on top, as the band itself seemed looser, more playful, simply "more fun" - but all of those elements added something very, very special to the Rose Bowl experience.

By the way, Kinsa, sounds like you might have been one of my neighbors on the rail in RZ2? I was in a hot pink shirt (and with my husband). I don't think I could be described as having red hair, so hopefully I'm not the "obnoxious red-headed woman" to which you refer - now that would be embarrasing.

this

I was trying to describe what it was like to meet more and more ppl as we went from city to city. Walking up and down the line in LA was almost as much fun as the show itself. Having BD there to get me through Walk On, High Five-ing Dave when the dumb blondes left the pit in front of us, Lila and Maddy's brownies... it's all good, man.

Broker, unless you were acting like a Line Nazi before we went in and told my sister "Buh-Bye" because she was standing in the correct location in line in a really obnoxious voice, no, you were not the obnoxious red head. Where were you on the rail? We were in the middle, right at the bridge where it stopped for Crazy Tonight, etc. Bono sang the first lines of Unforgettable Fire directly to us. It was a great location.

Add me to that list please. You can PM it here, or if you need an email, let me know. I'd actually like all the pics :shifty: Are they on any site like Snapfish or Photobucket or something where I can order them & have them printed/mailed to me? Same for the others, like bonocomet's daughter's pics. Just want to have an album of photos from my show. I'm sentimental like that

Lila, Chelsea is uploading all her high res files from the Rose Bowl into a zip folder on send space. I'll PM you the link when it's ready

Nice!

Def keeping it as a nice souvenir.

Very nice wristbands there! Pretty!

Our Red Zone wrist bands were purple with the tour logo but no pretty roses. :grumpy:

zooey I need to tell you that Larry stopped and played his djembe right in front of us. Sorry no pics of that moment because we were all sort of :drool:  He was going to run past to get back to his drums but we yelled and he looked down and smiled and stopped and played it there awhile. He was looking right at us. We were all stunned.
