So what is the weakest U2 song ever, then?

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.

In a Little While has to be it,I just can`t get into that song at all :|

Sometimes the demo`s really suck, makes you feel glad in the beginning they were just labeled as demo`s and not considered for the actual song...

no...... In a little while is one of the most beautiful songs they have ever written, its so gorgeous.

In my opinion, of course...

It qualifies for critiscism in my opinion.....as it was released under the name of U2! Not to mention the fact, it managed to make it on to u218 the singles Cd!

Well it was a cover collaboration with Green Day, and it indeed was on a Singles Cd. But it's still not a U2 song. It was a cover, so I'm not sure this qualifies.

My absolute least favourite U2 songs (original or cover) are:

  • Love Rescue Me
  • Elvis Presley and America
  • Drunk Chicken / America
  • Silver and Gold [Sun City Version]
  • A Room At The Heartbreak Hotel

Honourable mentions go to All Because of You, Crumbs From Your Table, Like A Song, I Fall Down, Touch, J. Swallo, Street Mission.

In addition, there are quite a few "weak, not not awful" tracks.

I like Red Light.

Elvis Presley and America, not in tune, not in key, bad production/mix and to top it all off a rubbish song.

Who's Gonna Ride Your Wild Horses? - worst use of an existing song title
Wild Honey - worst use of nature imagery

Peace on Earth - yuk
Grace - yuk^2
Slow Dancing. - yuk^3

The Ground Beneath Her Feet. - worst use of a book title
The Hands that Built America. - worst use of a U2song in a movie

good thing those last three were never proper album tracks.

I don't understand many of you. Peace on Earth may be a ridiculous name, and heavy bullets for the U2 haters (where U2 only is Bono, apparently) but it's a great song IMO. Even more unbelievable is that some of you have chosen Yahweh. It's the best ending to a U2 album so far, and a beautiful song in general. Grace is not that bad, but it has awful lyrics ("Grace, it's a name for a girl").

My vote goes to Elvis Presley and America. Sorry Elvis, but the U2 song with you in the title is not good...

The Ground Beneath Her Feet. - worst use of a book title

wait, so do you hate the song, or just the title?

if the former, how could you, it's one of the most beautiful songs U2 has ever written! the end is amazing. my 5th favourite song

the book ;)

anyway because you like it so much I gave the MDH version another listen and it's much better than the acoustic version I was familiar with, I'll retract it from my list.

Now if only others could start appreciating:

Love Rescue Me

Surely of all the songs they've written for others (legends like B.B.King, Tina Turner, Roy Orbinson, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, Frank Sinatra) this one deserves special credit?

Out of those it's of the few full album songs, plus it fits in perfectly with Angel of Harlem and When Love Comes to Town. It's an integral part of R&H.
Just a shame that Dylan withdrew his vocals from the release.

Having seen LoveTown probably helps to properly rate this song.
In fact in Rotterdam they played in sequence:

She's A Mystery To Me,
Angel Of Harlem,
When Love Comes To Town,
Love Rescue Me

I know I`ll probably get guffaws for saying this, but the album version of Walk On is weak, now the Hallelujah version is the best IMO and should have been on there instead of the one on ATYCLB to begin with, would anyone possibly agree with me on this matter?

I like...the album version I mean, it's Walk On.:|
BUT THE SINGLE VERSION :love::love::love::love: I totally agree with you. It really should be on the CD :applaud::applaud:

Not really fair to include b-sides. In some cases they became b-sides because they are partially completed.

Yes, it absolutely is fair to include any released U2 song, b-sides included, when the topic is the weakest U2 song EVER. It would not be correct, be definition, to only choose better known album songs. There's a reason why a song like J. Swallo didn't make it on to an album and it's because it just is not of high enough quality. I think if more people would listen to this song, they'd realize that it's weaker than just about everything that has been listed. It's not my fault that this song is so bad that most U2 fans don't even know of it.

Surprised by the Love Rescue Me mentions, always liked that one.

When Love Comes to Town, on the other hand, is the only U2 song from the 1980s that I dislike. That kind of music just doesn't work for them.

When Love Comes to Town, Vertigo, Elevation, Beautiful Day - they're my least favourites.

Grace is not that bad, but it has awful lyrics ("Grace, it's a name for a girl"

I KNOW!!!! Talk about uninspired! Does he think wer'e idiots? The man just burbles away to music sometimes and thinks somehow that thats ok!

I don't even know if he HAD an explanation for that one. What gets me, is how does this get by the rest of the band? Doesn't anyone say anything? And they claim to care about their reputation.:doh::huh:
