I don't think it's worth paying $1,000 and queuing a cumulative 100 hours on hard concrete to hear the same setlist ten times.

But clearly some fans are over-obsessed.

Some people just have the money to do it as well. But if you want to just write it off as over-obsession be my guest.

Oh yeah, as you know I've listened to every one of the 157 ZooTV gigs that has a bootleg, and besides a couple of noteworthy changes, it's mostly a "heard one, heard them all" scenario. Don't know how people could see heaps of shows, unless they're the kind of loon who's more interested in staring at leather pants than listening to the goddamn music I mean isn't that what it's all about for fuck's sake.

I've always thought Bono was nearing his peak on JT, with the peak obviously on Lovetown. He had a more powerful voice than on previous tours at any rate. And I've never considered COH to be an actual tour. Couldn't care less about it, to be honest. Hits and covers? Snooze. I suppose if I had to rate it, it'd go in the daylight between #7 and #8.

Ahh, yeah, saw your Coffin Bay post just after I made my one mentioning Minlaton.

Oh, shit yes. I mean, Zoo TV mainly appeals to, what, teenagers and Plebans? No wonder! Even thought Bono looked like a right slob in 1993.

I have to disagree - I think he was terrific in Lovetown, of course, but I prefer his general 84-86 voice to the majority of the JT tour. It could just be that I've been listening to the wrong bootlegs - of course, I'm sure he had it in him at the time.

Yeah, the setlists in COH were predictably boring, but you couldn't expect anything less - I still think Bono never sounded any more pure on some of those recordings, though. Also, you can stare at fringe jackets!!1one2seventeen79internetparodycliche

Well for me it's a combination of things. It's my first tour, I'll want to see a few dates. It's my first chance to meet up with people from here too, and I'm sure I'll have a good time!

I'm planning to go to Dublin, London and Amsterdam if I manage to save enough.

Yea you're right. Tho I do like Miracle Drug, Boner ruins it live with his stupid nurse speech.
We need something next tour to stop him from speeching. How about a taser?

I always thought Miracle Drug was much weaker live, and Bono singing over some of Edge's verse really annoys me. God, Bono, we don't need you hogging the limelight all the time. And Larry needs to actually start throwing drumsticks at Bono when he's speechifying.

Nerdy as it sounds, I may try and time my trip to Europe late this year/early next with convenient U2 dates, if possible. Just because.

Has Bono ever NOT looked like a slob?

I just think Bono's voice packed a bit more of a punch in 1987 than in 1984-85, but it's a close thing. Also I prefer the JT Tour sets to anything in 1984-86, generally speaking. UF obviously had the glory of 11OTT opening while JT got the song just ONCE, but there were some other really cool things happening on that tour to compensate.

Yea, it's not performed the way it *could* have been. Edge needs to get up front and shine in that song, the solo is goddamn awesome. For some reason Bono ruins so much of the music. I guess that PLEBAns go there for the show, hence they don't see this. I would like to go there for the music.
Agreed, or even better, they get a new drummer and let him use Bono's head as a tom when he tries to speech. It's empty inside anyway so will resonate nicely.

I'm planning to go to Dublin, London and Amsterdam if I manage to save enough.

Since there'll be multiple gigs in those locations, you should at least get some setlist variety.

Whether it will be much, though ... :slant:

You too? :flirt:

Ali was already planning this. :D That'd be great!

it's pretty bitchy tho, at the first date rumours the hotels in Dublin have already tripled their prices. :| Fucking moneyhungry assholes.

I have no clue how much it's gonna cost me, so I just save whatever I can.

Hm, true but I don't count on it much. I'll be aiming for 1 london and dublin date and hopefully all Amsterdam dates. No clue wether that'll work out tho, being the first gigs I ever go to. I have no clue how to get the tickets since they usually sell out within the hour here.

Aw shit, I knew I should have stayed in Minlaton a day longer.

PS how are you

See? This is what happens!

I am well...no that's not true at all! I'm congested and I slept too long and I have to go to work in an hour :scream:...

...but other than that? NO Because today's the fucking day of the Killer's concert ...

...but other than THAT...yes I'm well.

He just looked particularly slovenly in 1993 though, you know? Maybe you don't. But the evidence is there, and it cannot be dismissed.

I can see the 'punch', but... seriously, there was something of an effortlessness in some TUF and COH performances, as well as the best of Self Aid, that I think was far, far easier to listen to than a lot of JT. I mean, I could see the JT or Lovetown Bono perhaps death growling, but not in the immediately prior tours. Of course, in every tour he just did a lot of screaming, too.

I won't argue with setlists here. Would be digging my own grave!

If you're going to travel to London and Dublin, you might as well go to all the gigs. Especially the Dublin ones, given they're hometown ones and they tend to get something unpredictable at at least one show.

I've been to ten U2 shows, bought all my tickets online, and had few troubles. Nothing notable. Always got tickets.

Damn, Europe party! We can have hell of space cakes before seeing them in Amsterdam!

edit: Plus we could do that in the other cities!

Haha. Yeah, what do I know. Normally I'm doing my best to ignore him.

Good points. Haha, JT Tour death growls would've owned. "Yeah, we'll shine like stars in the summer night!/We'll shine like stars in the winter night/One heart, one hope, one RRRAAAAAAAAARRRRGGGGGHHHHHH!!!! AND LOVE WILL TEAR US APART AGAIN! LOVE ... LOOAAARRRRRGGGGHHHHH!!!!!!"

The one thing that I think most holds back UF for me is that the sets really did tend to be extremely static, and the shows were so goddamned short, just around 90-100 minutes. They got a little longer and more diverse on JT. Now, Lovetown has the problem of short shows too, which drives me mad, but the killer performances and - by U2 standards - crazy sets offset that.

Well true, but I'm not entirely sure how I'll be able to get tickets to all the dates, and how to do that financially.

Deal. I'll be taking you to a coffeeshop in Amsterdam fo sho! :hi5: That'd be fun!

:hmm: Not sure if we'd be able to make a spacecake in such short time, I'd need an oven somewhere, not going to use the one in my parental home!

BONNIE.

I somehow overlooked this earlier. But now IT HAS BEEN BROUGHT TO MY ATTENTION THAT YOU VOTED FOR SCARLET.

This will not stand! Don't make me go all bonoz on you!

THIS is why I'm not recalling the giant shank from orbit.

Uh. So did I.

Yeah, but I kind of expected it from you. (Though you were meant to follow my votes. No dinners for a week for you! :tsk: )

Bonnie, however? I EXPECTED BETTER, BONNIE. I REALLY DID.
