1) Whether or not Barack Obama has been elected president does not fall under the realm of opinion. Not even remotely. This is probably as clear-cut a fact as you could possibly find, hence my justifiably extreme criticism of your analogy.
2) If you took some time to catch your breath, took your fingers off the Caps and exclamation points, and generally toned down your rhetoric, you'd perhaps be pleasantly surprised to find that most people here would agree with your opinion. I certainly would. I consider JT and AB their best albums to date, hands down. I also think that their last 2 albums fit comfortably in their overall body of work--not their best, but not embarrassments by any means. While my opinion, this is certainly backed up by (majority!) critical, public, and fan reaction.
3) The problem with the discussion of Bono's voice is that the conversation has decidedly entered into a fantasy realm. What I mean by this is as follows: expectations vary significantly among the fanbase, but they should remain tethered at least loosely to reality. Bono is almost 50. If you want his vocal chords to remain 27 years old, then that is flat-out unrealistic. If you continue to bemoan this point, you have every right to do that, but it inevitably makes you sound like a tired (intentional usage), boorish person with little grasp of reality and therefore little of value to add to a discussion.
4) Opinion of many is certainly not more important than opinion of the few. Does the passing of Proposition 8 make the majority view in California correct? One of the reasons the Supreme Court is given so much power and does not have to answer to the public is to prevent the majority from abusing and descriminating against various minority groups.
Minority opinions are perfectly valid and are not less "worthy", ESPECIALLY when dealing with art.
