yeah. what I now gather from this is that No Line on the Horizon will be the lead single, if not also the album name. as people have mentioned ,this was done in Dublin, which was months ago. I'm sure there was some deliberation as to when to put it out etc., but since they filmed a video a couple weeks ago in Cadiz, have blasted the album, the U2.com clips etc., project RED coming out with the music store in the fall - it all just makes too much sense to release it in the fall for them not to.

I believe we've heard what all of these songs sound like except for "No Line on the Horizon." For Your Love I think is the U2.com clip with the badass Edge riff with Bono scatting over it and then saying Verse or Chorus or whatever, which I think is also the same song as the May HQ Clip "I've been running to the surface for your love."

Breathe is clearly the second HQ clip and beach clip #2.

Get On Your Boots is also the third clip.

Also, I don't think anybody has mentioned it yet, but did an article concerning the clips not come out a couple weeks ago stating that in an interview given with Q, Edge mentioned "Get On Your Boots" as a working title for a song? If that article knew about the interview a couple weeks ago, then it's more and more evident that this interview took place no time recently.

I think when we get more confirmation about the RED dates for the music program etc., that's when we can start banking on seeing "No Line on the Horizon" and it's confirmation etc. I expect some major news in the next 10 days.

completely agree

also, unrelated but the Bloc Party reference on the bottom of the page also dates the article. Bloc Party's album is already out - it was announced a week after the beach clips came out. so theyre obviously at least a few weeks behind, and the Dublin quote pretty much proves this is nothing new.

so there's really nothing pointing for an 09 release except for lack of a concrete release date, and there's plenty of time for that

i'm gonna agree that we're gonna get something within the next 10 days

You know, Edge has been pretty non-committal in the press about this project from the get-go. Remember when he was saying that the initial sessions might be one album, two albums, an extended dance single, who knows? And now he's implying that they have to shape it into a cohesive album?

Maybe the man has learned a lesson from the Bomb sessions and the Vertigo tour. Having a family medical crisis, which tanked the first leg of the tour, surely made him put some things in perspective. Maybe he's just avoiding the go-go-go U2 business plan and just letting things be. Or at least not going full tilt about set-in-stone release dates, tour plans, etc.

I'm sure things are on track for a Christmas release, but there is something healthy about a "let's wait and see" approach.

Good catch. Didn't notice that before.

Well maybe some journalist or fan can get a hold of Edge seeing as he's going to appearing at the Toronto Film Festival this friday the 5th for the film he's in with Jimmy Page and Jack White called "It Might Get Loud" ......hopefully if there isn't any new album news by the 5th someone gan get it out of Edge to reveal a little more than what we already know

MOS is going to be eight minutes long? I have my fingers crossed for multiple tempo changes and atmospheric guitar solos.

I've got to check out "Hot Fuss". I hate to admit it, because I've scolded people for doing this with U2, but I've heard mostly singles from the Killers and not much of their albums. :reject:

I really like their sound, and their music and have to get out of that habit and get their albums.

That being said...how the hell do they have only 30% of the lyrics done at this point????

Did he lose a suitcase or something?

Hot Fuss is one of the best albums in the last 30 years.

Jenny Was A Friend of Mine is a classic song.

It's also part 3 of 'the murder trilogy' which details the story of a jealous guy drowning his girlfriend for cheating on him. A hint to how they named the band. Basically, the order goes

Leave the Bourbon on the Shelf (off 2007 release, Sawdust)
Midnight Show
JWAFOM (both off hot fuss.)

I have actually made an mp3 of all three mixed together, as there are no segues the way they are, sounds pretty kool.

When I get the internet at home, I'll send it to you

You've got my eardrums salivating. :D

I'm really just starting to get into The Killers. They've got that "it" factor. Not sure how to describe "it" but they've got "it". I'm going to hit itunes and blow about $30-40 on them very soon.

If you ever do get the internet at home feel free to send it to me..I'd really really appreciate it!

Thanks man!

It will be well worth it.

Sawdust is a good listen too. One of the best bsides and rarities collections out there.

Alternate mixes of some of the Hot Fuss songs, and a couple of takes from a live session, including a cover of Dire Straits Romeo and Julliet which is one of the best covers I've ever heard.

These guys appear to be the kind of band that if they stay together, could be as prolific and successful as U2, a rarity in today's modern music world

Thanks for posting the scan babacar!

Apologies to windylad72, I really thought you were making fun of us with some made up quotes and non existing artice. It just looked to cheesy to be true

"Trying to weave it all together into a coherent collection is the challenge"

I hope they succeed, coherence is one of the major things that make JT end AB such great albms, as opposed to a great collection of songs.

Late September will be crucial as well in terms of the album, because Q magazine always have a big U2 spread for the new album. This will be their November issues, so by then we will know for sure about the album, though presumibly we will have heard a single by then...

This is gearing up to being one of those amazing rock music new release orgasms that we haven't seen in a long long time. This fall is going to be fantastic.

Coldplay
The Killers
U2
Oasis
Metallica

did I miss any others???

Its been a long time since I've been this excited about music.

I was wondering about it when I read that. I remember thinking that I hadn't heard about this title before, and that they must have interviewed Edge and just not printed it yet (that's what I was hoping, anyway).

I think Paul had said a couple years ago that in today's music business, it only makes sense to release albums in the fourth quarter, which I believe is October, November, and December. This is what U2 have been doing for almost everything they've released lately, so I don't see why they'd suddenly release an album in the spring, especially a new studio album. Unless there is some problem, I would be very surprised if they did that.

I'm glad we're finding out stuff now.

Has anyone put together a list of the dates of all of U2's major album releases?

Its seems like they've almost ALWAYS released their albums in the fall. Is that true?

In recent times, yes.

For most of their career, outside of JT, Pop and Zooropa, they stick to Fall releases. The former originally planned for Fall 86 and 96, and the latter, well, not your typical album release but a mid-tour fast affair.

In past years the deadline was September 30th. I'm with you in that I can wait a little longer. The only reason I hope it is released this year is so silly. There five albums that were competing in my head for the best of the year. U2 was one of them. If they do wait I sort of hope they release some tour dates this year.

U2 usually release a single before September 30, which is then eligible for the Grammys; the whole album is not eligible until the next Grammys. That way, they can cover two Grammy Awards, which is what they have been doing. "Vertigo" by itself won some in 2005, and then HTDAAB won some more in 2006.

I love fall releases!! I remember ATYCLB and HTDAAB waiting in a line at midnight , someone having a ghettoblaster playing the cd (the leak one,HTDAAB that is), and its very special waiting in the cold, all those fans having a blast!!!:applaud:
