The choice we face is between an imperfect candidate who is an honorable, decent person vs. a steaming pile of human excrement.
Also, the imperfect candidate is running a pretty flawless campaign so far and has an 8-12 point national lead. And it’s more than stepping back and letting Trump step on takes in the rose garden. The Biden campaign has made no mistakes, and pulled off several not easy things — a VP announcement with genuine suspense, the first ever virtual convention —very well.
I can’t think of anyone else in the D field who would be in such a position in mid-August.
Joe's success has been that he Trump has not found a way, with 74 days left to go, to define Joe in any negative way. In fact, one could say that him trying to define Joe as a puppet of the radical left, has actually turned off more voters than it has gained.
There wouldn't have been anyone in this position at this point. Although Bernie would have been a wild card that I don't think I can say wouldn't have been close. I think Bernie either would have been well behind where Biden is now, or up near where Biden is now. Because i just don't know how the dynamics would have been.
I mean, on the face of it, Biden's strength with seniors, suburban voters and moderate Reps couldn't be matched. Not even close.
I do think Bernie would be doing fine with people of color. His performance in the primary in no way determines what his General Election performance would be. I don't think it would be as high as Biden's with African Americans, but probably higher than Biden with Latinx voters. Obviously Bernie would be killing it with the 35 and unders.
I do think that Trump would have been easily able to label Bernie as being an dangerous radical leftist, that want's to destroy the country. And I think it would have resonated beyond his base.

Unfortunately Pete would be subject to ageism and homophobia, Amy, Warren, Harris would have been subject to sexism, that you can bet would take at least a few points off their board. Sad but true.
And it's a bridge too far for Nancy Pelosi that someone would dare go against the Kennedy dynasty! She literally said this. Incredible. That was a fantastic ad by Markey. It was seriously good.

Trump blew his Burisma load too early - and even if he hadn't, it's questionable how much it would swing voters at this point. I think that the public takes it for granted that this sort of gross nepotism is a given. And yes, it was gross nepotism at its finest. The other thing is that only MAGA voters who have no concern about hypocrisy would not plainly see that Trump has zero room to call out anyone when it comes to nepotism given that half his family is parading around the White House doing God only knows what.
I was actually thinking of this this morning... why? Ah who the hell knows...
I was actually thinking of this this morning... why? Ah who the hell knows... but I was thinking about what kind of October surprise Trump is going to try and pull out of his arse, and one of my thoughts centered around having his lap dog Barr go directly after Hunter Biden.
How much of a shit show will the GOP convention be ?
Does Q make an appearance? Does Rudy yell? How many lock her up chants??
Scott Baio, the rich gun couple from St. Louis, and the smirking at Native American kid!!
Oh and Steve Bannon is still scheduled to speak as of today
