Oh hey, I work 4 blocks from the Convention Center.

I have a conference there starting Tuesday.

Welp.

Gzusfrk, if character matters to you so much, and hypocrisy bothers you so much, then can I safely assume you did not and will not vote for Trump?

I did not vote for Trump in 2016, I voted third party. Like I said earlier, I agree with many of his policies and he’s gotten loads of good things accomplished for this country that I agree with.

But we have who we have. Personally I would prefer that Trump would have stepped away, and Mike Pence or Nikki Haley would have run. I would vote for either of them.

I do want to support true conservatives, and it’s easy to feel like a vote for a candidate who really is a long shot is useless, such as an independent or third party candidate, but I really loathe both the D and R parties. Too corrupt, too many special interests. I agree with a lot of what Rand Paul says economically.

no Trump supporter is allowed to criticize Hunter Biden, because this is miles-beyond-miles worse:

President Donald Trump’s son-in-law and adviser Jared Kushner has sold his stake in a company investing in Opportunity Zone projects offering tax breaks he had personally lobbied for in Washington, sparking criticism that he was benefiting from his White House role.

A filing at the Office of Government Ethics released Monday shows that Kushner received permission to defer capital gains on the sale of his stake in Cadre, a digital platform for smaller investors to buy stakes in commercial properties. Kushner’s holding in the private Cadre is worth between $25 million and $50 million, according to a financial disclosure report he filed with federal ethics officials last year.

Kushner pushed for the Opportunity Zone tax breaks to be included in Trump’s 2017 tax overhaul. The breaks offer investors big cuts in capital gains taxes if they put money into businesses and buildings in 8,700 poor, struggling neighborhoods across the country that otherwise might not attract the money.

Cadre has said it plans to invest heavily in those neighborhoods, though it is unclear just how much it has done so. Kushner also has stakes in more than a dozen properties in Opportunity Zones owned by his family firm, Kushner Cos. It is not clear if the company has taken advantage of the breaks.

Kushner stepped down as CEO of Kushner Cos. and gave up management positions at Cadre when he joined the White House three years ago.

An ethics lawyer for Kushner did not immediately respond to requests for comment. Cadre declined to comment.

it's like conflating "hair sniffing" with sexual assault and rape, as well as, you know, actually passing legislation that harms women as opposed to actually passing legislation that helps women.

Latest Polls out this morning

National - Biden +16

Washington State - Tied

MO - Biden +22

The MO poll is a local polling operation. This may be an outlier.

Can I also just say that Amy K has really put her money where her mouth is. She endorsed Biden and went right to work traveling and holding events for him.

She's doing events in MI right now. That's pretty humble and impressive. Does she have a shot at VP? Is she trying for that? or you think she is just doing what she thinks is necessary for Biden to win?

I think she wants it. I bet she makes the top 5.

If only that was it.

He actually called Biden a pedophile.

It’s because they’re ALL PERVERTS. Therefore, it’s fine to vote for Trump, because Biden sniffs hair and I think that’s the same as grabbing women by the pussy, it’s negated and I can focus on tax cuts.

Or the tax cuts for people much wealthier than I.

This is how they justify things like this to themsleves.

Spooked by the socialist thing lmao while probably true, open your eyes people, the kind of shit proposed exists in every other country. They’re not “socialists,” not that that’s inherently a negative thing. Basic human rights, and you’ve all been duped. Welcome to America, where coronavirus will spread faster than everywhere else because everyone’s fucking afraid of the hospital.

Yeah, I definitely know what you mean. Every reasonable person knows that we have a partial socialist system already. But I think Sanders presentation of it, his absolutism, creates a political ceiling for him, that has become quite obvious that he has reached.

Obviously the "socialist" label is going to be an issue in this country, especially outside the Dem party.
Again, I think this is part of Sanders miscalculation. It got him his base in 2016, but then boxed him in for this run, making it nearly impossible to expand his support.

It's those things that make me wonder if he really wants to be president, or does he just want to be an historical figure/martyr type.

The whole revolution thing is where i believe this all comes to a head for him. This is the term that created the cult of personality that continues. But again, only is appealing to a small slice of the electorate. It also is key in his lack of AA support. Many black voters have such a different lived experience, that doesn't lend itself to revolution. They are the bedrock of the Democratic party, and Bernie's "establishment" talk, comes more like an insult to them, than an inspiration.

If Sanders had initially come at this more like Warren, about just making big changes to the existing system, and not calling for a revolution, then I think he may have had wider appeal. But it just isn't happening. Set aside the fact that our entire political system, set up by the Founding Fathers, was designed specifically to avoid a revolution by one person or party.

You’re probably right, and there’s always an issue with fundamentalism and reality vs actuality. With that being said, I loathe what I’ll call “synthetic pragmatism.” A lot of what we are seeing is society saying it’s not possible, and the only reason it isn’t possible is because society says so. That’s bullshit. Would prefer true calculation.

well said. I would like to see bolder plans to start with from Biden/Amy, etc... Although I do think that Biden does have a very strong environmental plan, and I like his strength on gun issues. Healthcare, it would nice to see stronger initial stance to give more room for negotiation. And I think if Biden were smart, he could have at least taken a version of Warren's wealth tax and adopted it.

I think that Trump really threw the wrench in the gears. It made Biden's presentation for his run to be returning our country to normalcy. Turns out, it was a smart play, but i think it also made for a milder platform.

I agree that Klobuchar is gunning for VP but Biden is already strong in the middle and battleground states. What he needs is somebody more progressive to get the left wing of the base to be more excited. They will be massively deflated come the convention.

Totally agree. That's why I keep coming back to Abrams. Her youth and activism with voting rights alone would go a long way with keeping thing unified. And maybe GA to boot.

I'll agree with this. We got men to the moon, for cripes' sakes, yet somehow making significant changes to our healthcare system, or implementing gun control, or things like that, are somehow out of reach? Okay. I do think our country could use something like that as a rallying point, both to get this stuff implemented and to help make Americans feel inspired and hopeful in general again, and more inclined to tackle other problems, no matter how big or small.

Oh I’m very self aware Beavis. I call things as I see them. Again, the silence is deafening in this place when it comes to any nefarious, lying, sexually immoral activity by the Democratic Party.

Obviously Republicans are aware of it, and so are independents.

Again, Donald Trump is President, most people know who and what he is, except for your narrow minded Republicans who think he’s faultless, which there are many. However, America is in a much better place economically, in our trade deals with other countries, in our foreign policy dealings as well. Facts are facts.

His competition, is Joe Biden or Bernie Sanders.

Most people know who and what they are, except for narrow minded Democrats of which there are many.

And again, the indifference with which many on this forum show to Bernie’s rape fantasies and Biden’s pedophilic and creepy sexist moments , but continue to blast from the rooftops Trump’s “grab em by the pussy” speaks volumes about integrity and credibility

No, you’re unaware of the fact that your whole schtick of “I didn’t vote for him but cheer on everything he does”, is now what you are saying the other side is guilty of. You’re absolutely unaware that you’re looking in the mirror. Very few are 100% excited about the choices they have, most in here acknowledges the weaknesses of the candidates put forth.

But one is the party pretending to be the moral, Christian, evangelical party with a porn star pay off in the WH.

And how dare you call Biden a pedophile just because he believes that ‘freedom has a scent like the top of newborn baby’s head’?

Seems the new talking point or smear against Biden is his diminishing mental ability. Jill Stein has weighed in and said she sees significant regression of his mental facility

Yet no one wants to diagnose Trump??

Biden apparently is in hiding. The DNC doesn’t want him out in public to prove he’s near coma state...

Yet he’s been out campaigning the entire week and weekend

BUT HIS BRAIN CELLS!!!

Abrams and Harris have to be top 2 candidates for VP. Biden is flush with interesting options and it would be a crime if he wasted that opportunity.

I know everyone downplays VP but a female minority in the position would be legitimately cool and it's never been more important than with old man Biden in the running.

I mean, it's plainly obvious to anyone that he's not well in that respect. You only have to hear a speech of his to see and then compare that to a decade ago. Same can be said for Trump.

It's hardly a smear.
