Dunno.

So basically I’m a lawyer now

Less of an issue with senators since they are elected by the entire state, vs representatives who are elected by districts.

What a crazy day.

The worst part of all of this is that the GOP is rotten from the head down, all of them collectively. Therefore nothing will happen here, not a single one will do anything more than hem and haw and say they are "troubled" by the developments but you know, let's all get back to the "important stuff" like governing (more tax cuts for the wealthy please). You may get one or two Senators with nothing to lose to call Trump uncouth and even a moral failure but that's pretty much it. The equally rotten fundamentalist Christians will immediately proclaim that no man is perfect (you know, the benefit of the doubt they extended to Bill Clinton or more importantly his rape-enabling unsmiling wife) and really what does it matter whether their God Emperor slept with one porn star or 14 before he became President. They didn't vote for him on the basis of morality (that is reserved exclusively for SCOTUS nominees who must wage a crusade in the name of fetii and for every individual running as a Democrat, particularly any gay or transgendered perverts endangering our children in public washrooms) PLUS even if morality matters let's not forget the personal e-mail server harpie that ran opposite him. No joke, that's literally where we are at.

Re: Avenatti, he is strangely attractive for a lawyer. Most of my friends and acquaintances are lawyers, let's face it we're not the best looking profession. He's for sure more qualified than Trump in that I don't think he is demented. But if we're seriously considering celebrities, I've always said it should be Bruce Springsteen running over Oprah. He takes back the heartland. I'm really only partially joking.

Looks-wise, Avenatti isn't my type, but I can see where he'd appeal to some. I don't know much about him beyond that, though, save for the occasional clips of him I've seen on TV.

Springsteen as a politician would be very interesting indeed. And then there's people like Colbert and Stewart, who've been involved in political activities in some form or another and who would be among those who I feel would actually take any sort of political office seriously if they ever actually decided to run. Course, I think if somebody like Colbert or Stewart ever were to legitimately get into politics, they wouldn't immediately start with running for the top job of president. They'd be the sort who would start a political career on a smaller level and go from there and build up their experience.

Back to the serious stuff...

Pretty much sums it up. It's so pathetic and frustrating and maddening. The GOP is either going to have to do some serious soul-searching and purging and whatnot at some point, or, since that seems very unlikely to happen, they need to officially just go the way of the Whigs.

since i've self-revoked my thread creating privileges due to the great list thread fiasco of 2018, i'm just going to suggest that the next thread title should be "US PolitIX".
