is this presidential campaign or is this just big reality show campaign that just look eerie similar to republican campaign? I really can't tell at this pt. sure I'm biased as i am self-identified liberal but it's getting fucking insane.

And, I don't really care that much about how politicians conduct their private lives so long as no laws are broken.
But when such an individual has etched out a space for himself as a sanctimonious holy roller and attacked women's health and rights, LGBT rights, and, really, the right if anyone to have affordable health care, then, well, fuck Ted Cruz! |

You're spot on. I think in the age of candidates using social media there is an amplification of craziness. Add in the 24 hour news-cycle and all the personalities commentating and it's just a feeding frenzy of speculation. And it's not just the GOP side. You have an old ass socialist dominating millennials and a woman front runner with a serious FBI investigation looming over her head. SNL is now forced into doing 2-3 election skits an episode just to cover all the bases. Sent from my iPhone using U2 Interference |

This aspect of entertainment in politics is certainly valued more these days; i realize that it's not necessarily unique to US, though. Where I come from (Japan) isn't really the exception; people wont shut up about politicians' personal issues and affairs yet nobody talk about solving this crisis about small businesses and old people getting less welfare because welfare system is poorly managed and almost totally broken at this pt. couple of days ago Bernie said that media never talks about serious issues (probably because they need ratings), which obviously bothers him a lot, considering that he's been saying about income inequality, problems about "class" and meaningless wars for almost 30 years.

no, it is just the GOP side. the discussions between HRC and Sanders are serious and substantial. there's always aspects of politics that are humorous, but only one party views the presidency and government itself as a money-making scheme attracting the worst sort of hucksters, grifters, and carnival barkers. |

any democrat-related SNL skits are kinda forced, or is it just me?
(still, Kate's Hillary impression is still funny, though) |

The Democrats aren't perfect, no. No party ever is. And Hilary and Bernie have definitely made their own missteps in the campaign. But compared to the way the GOP candidates have been behaving towards each other, both during the debates and in general, they're certainly looking like the significantly more mature group of people overall at the moment. Also, I'm with Irvine on the supposed Cruz sex scandal. If he cheated on his wife, that's his issue to deal with, and nobody else's business. But then he'd better shut his trap and not extol the virtues of "traditional marriage" and how "horrible" gay marriage is for the country. |

You mean the investigation into using private servers in the exact same manner as the past 4 Sec States? And the investigation in which the head Republican has been caught manipulating facts and leaking intentionally misleading and falsely manipulated info (like marking information as classified to make emails look more damning, when the info was never actually marked classified)? That investigation? |

Benghazi!
In other Hillary news, Jimmy Kimmel illustrates perfectly the sexism that permeates this campaign. |

It's also one of the most consistently blue states, even in low turnout elections. For my money, California is probably the least likely state to ever flip into the GOP column because you would have to spend so much time and money in order to convince millions of Democrats to flip (or not vote). |

2016 US Presidential Election Thread Part VI
Quote:
Comey wouldn't give the server guy immunity if he did not intend to ask for an indictment. Could be an indictment of Clinton or Huma Abedin. The DOJ may refuse causing Comey to resign along with others working the case with the FBI. That would add to the reality TV factor of the 2016 election. Sent from my iPhone using U2 Interference |

to me, and i assume to most, "reality TV" involves insulting spouses, allegations of infidelity, cheap insults, and making good use of the throwing wine. this sounds like an actual issue between grownups with jobs. |
