Whats Gallagher got to do with it?

The friendliest place on the web for anyone that follows U2.

Gallagher gave Bono the phrase "One Step Closer To Knowing" in a friendly conversation. Bono thought that would be a good song title so he made it into a song. That's what the published reports say.

But the real unpublished results is that Gallagher and Oasis are already has-beens. They are no longer relevant and any new record they'll make probably won't sell. So he asked a special favor from Bono to give him a little name drop in the album credits so that the millions who will buy U2's album will remember that there is a band called Oasis that still exists.

Cheers,

J

Bono had a conversation with Noel about Bob Hewson losing his faith, being unsure where he's going ... and Noel replied "Well he's one step closer to knowing isn't he?" which probably inspired Bono to write the song.

It's a very Noelish phrase.

I can just imagine him saying it in that Manc accent.

"He's one step closer to knowing then, d'you know what I mean?"
