Ehh...I can't stand Creed at all. Just my opinion, and I don't think they sound like Pearl Jam. I'm not really a Pearl Jam fan either, and, quite honestly, I think they've slipped into repetitiveness themselves, but they did have their moments of greatness.
Creed just is in the realm of monotony. Every song I've heard of them sounds exactly the same, and, personally, I can't stand the vocals. Stapp's voice does nothing for me, and their lyrics border proselytization.
To those who do like Creed, great (Krasno!). More power to you. I listen to music that certainly rattles a few heads in themselves (i.e., I like Alanis Morrisette's live music), so I'm not going to condemn those who choose to listen to music that I personally don't like. At least Creed doesn't contribute to the degeneration of music like Britney Spears or boy bands.

"He had lived through an age when men and women with energy and ruthlessness but without much ability or persistence excelled. And even though most of them had gone under, their ignorance had confused Roy, making him wonder whether the things he had striven to learn, and thought of as 'culture,' were irrelevant. Everything was supposed to be the same: commercials, Beethoven's late quartets, pop records, shopfronts, Freud, multi-coloured hair. Greatness, comparison, value, depth: gone, gone, gone. Anything could give some pleasure; he saw that. But not everything provided the sustenance of a deeper understanding." - Hanif Kureishi, Love in a Blue Time
