I loved what happened when Rush Limbaugh said on his show that he had info from a "reliable source" that he refused to name that Bono had a long term mistress. Although their policy is usually not to respond to these things the band felt they had to say something because they felt this was derogatory to Ali. Principle Management released a statement formally denying that Bono had a mistress. All very serious right. Then at the very end tacked on "but come to think of it Bono and Edge have been spending an awful lot of time together in New York." I thought that bit of humor at the end was a perfect touch. There is more evidence to the idea of Bono sleeping with Edge than there is about him and any woman. Besides, Ali calls Edge Bono's other wife :D.

I think he's going to have to be careful this year. Most people seem to be pretty much completely sick of him, and he sets himself up too easily. I can't believe they miss easy goals as well, eg, how about, say, the limited edition of U218 coming in a different coloured case, say, I dunno, red?

i think we'd be pretty naive to believe that Bono has never had relations with another woman.

but, this is against the FAQs so thats all I'll say on that topic

there will always be people somewhere on the internet bashing Bono/U2, so it shouldn't be a surprise and no real reason to bring it here, we have enough of it already as is :wink:

U2 don't pay tax? Please, they only avoided paying 43% NEW tax because the Irish Government decided to add a new tax to royalties, and in Holland this tax is 1,5 percent... so what moron would pay 41,5 % more just to stay popular in their own country?

and they still believe the crap story of the Sun that Bono flew his hat in (they say stetson, but the article was about the green monstrosity, so wrong aswell)

and ofcourse, the Lola Cashman case is brought in aswell... they still claim it was all about the hat... :rolleyes:

and the message about Bono and Ali not taking the kid amuses me aswell, since they clearly haven't any idea why they didn't take it (was against the RULES)

It didn't bother me too much. It seemed like only half a dozen people even posting in that thread. What do I care what 6 people think about Bono based on some Internet tabloids? Nothing they are basing their bashing on is even true.
 
Read this comment someone made. I have been trying to say this to some Bono bashing firends of mine, but have never quite been able to put it into words. This fella does it perfectly though:


If Bono wanted an easy life and wanted the world to love him, he could publicly give his earnings to charity, according to lots of people in this thread, that would clearly make him a better person. But he isn't interested in being nice when he's being political. He wants the worlds media to take note, but thats so the world can see what is really going on and maybe put their playstation controls down for a minute or stop downloading internet porn for an hour or break away from their conversations about who's shagging who for a second just to try and make a difference.

Bono has taken on a role because he is in a position most people aren't in, as I said, he doesn't have to and maybe we should be applauding someone who has the guts to take on people in power. Sometimes its what you try and change through reasoned argument and lobbying that makes more of a difference than just by throwing cash at it.

Bravo!
 
i wouldn't let such speculation or accusations bother you. at the end of the day it really doesn't matter.
