somber U2 songs

Music often affects our moods and memories.

Which U2 song--off any album--puts you in the most somber mood?

Why do you think that is?

For me it'd either be Stay or New Year's Day.

The minor key in New Year's Day and the drubbing baseline gets me thinking about rainy, cold nights in winter.

I don't know about "somber," but "The Ocean" takes me to a really reflective, almost surreal, existential plane

Love is Blindness, for sure. And Deep in the Heart, "You can't return to the place you never left". That line always moves me.

One Tree Hill sometimes puts me in a sombre mood. Indeed, it puts me in a lot of moods. It's the only song that regularly brings me to tears.
"Mediocrity is never so dangerous as when it is dressed up as sincerity." - Søren Kierkegaard

Ian McCulloch the U2 fan:
"Who buys U2 records anyway? It's just music for plumbers and bricklayers. Bono, what a slob. You'd think with all that climbing about he does, he'd look real fit and that. But he's real fat, y'know. Reminds me of a soddin' mountain goat."
"And as for Bono, he needs a colostomy bag for his mouth."

The album version of Exit. It's terribly depressing. But in a good way. It often moves me to tears, it's that dark.
