I absolutely love this song, am I alone? The lyrics, the beat, the way its all put together, the album its in, everything.. love it. How do you peeps feel about the song?

Take my hand
You know I'll be there
If you can
I'll cross the sky for your love
For I have promised
For to be with you tonight
And for the time that will come

Take my hand
You know I'll be there
If you can
I'll cross the sky for your love
And I understand
These winds and tides
This change of times
Won't drag you away

Hold on, and hold on tightly
Hold on, and don't let go of my love
The storms will pass, it won't be long now
This love will last, this love will last forever

And take my hand, you know I'll be there
If you can I'll cross the sky for your love
Give you what I hold dear

Hold on, hold on tightly
Hold on, and hold on tightly
Rise up, rise up with wings like eagles
You run, you run
You run and not grow weary

Hold on, and hold on tightly
Hold on, hold on tightly
This love, lasts forever
Now this love lasts forever

I like it because I always thought it sounded quite out of place on War, so it always stuck out.
The vocal style on it reminds me so much of Spandau Ballet.

greeeaat song. one of my top favorites.
the beat of this song always gets me no matter how many times i listen to it.

Given user ID, you'd probably guess how i feel about this song. Its awesome, as are every song on this album with the possible exception of Refugee.

Drowning Man is criminally, blasphemously, horrendously, tragically, underrated. It is one of the greatest songs U2 have ever recorded.

That ten-second(around there) acoustic guitar solo about 2/3 of the way through the song is one of the great moments in all of U2's catalog.

Ooh, I should've known other people would love this song! This is the song that totally convinced me I would be a fan forever of this band.

Listening to it now. :) The lyrics aren't well written, but the song is pretty good overall.

..........a few weeks ago, I entered it as "Song of the day" in my journal!
The acoustic guitar has never been better.....!
TURN IT UP!

Drowning Man is also one of my favourite U2 songs!

Bono's voice is superb and the song has this mysterious eerie quality to it, it's great. My favourite of War, a bold statement given the quality of SBS, NYD, Seconds, Like a Song, 40 and (gasp) Red Light.

awesome song, definatelt in my top 10, could have been an interesting single!

In my top 10, for sure!!!!! A man and a woman has a similar textural guitar sound that i love! I wouldn't minda whole album in this kind of style, Drowning man, A man and a woman, b-side version of electricl storm!!

Have they ever played this live?? (Axver..?)

the only thing that sucks about this song is that "the refugee" follows it and I have to get up to change the stereo.

Huh? The lyrics are excellent!

Much of it is right out of the Bible.

Which passages out of the bible, 80s?

I love love love this song and the way the vocals go up and down on the music like waves.
This song reminds me of dark stormy weather.
Love it!

Well, I said "much " of the song, but now that I re-look at the lyrics, it's only

"Rise up, rise up
With wings like eagles
You'll run and not grow weary"

from Isaiah.

One thing I like aout this song is that it is the ultimate love song. Love song from God to Man. And when God says he gives us what he holds dear, he means it. What could be more dear to him than his only son? What love!

That's why I love that song; it it so powerful.
