Baby turns Blue vs Bad

I was just wondering if Bad by U2 and Baby Turns Blue by the Virgin Prunes are about the same person. Bad is about a friend of U2's who dies of a heroin OD in the 80's. Baby turns Blue (as gavin says) is about a friend of his that died of a heroin OD in the 80's. Do you think it's the same person? If it is it's kinda neat in a way. I like seeing how those 2 bands can take the same subjects and have a different approach to writing a song about it.
