Yes, a few of us have been talking about making this tourney happen, and this is the thread where we figure all of this shit out.

So, here you can submit a list of which Heroes, Villains, and Sites you'd want to see in a March Madness-style tourney on this very sub-forum. Hopefully, we'll get some good ideas and whittle it down to 32 per category for maximum pwnage. Like a wise old bastard once said, "it'll be like Beav's smiley contest, only better, but maybe like 5 people will do it because everyone uses smileys."

I don't know, I'm paraphrasing. Either way, submit your shit here, son.

It's like the basketball tourney and how they play in different arenas.

Let's say it's Paul Atriedes v. Snake Plissken or something, but it's on Ceti Alpha V.

It doesn't add anything substantial, but it's a fun add-on.

So - sites = where the battles would potentially take place?

And...where can the heroes/villains come from? Comic books, movies, literature?

Spell it out, guys, set down some rules.

We're still figuring it out.

The sites are definitely where the battles take place....so, if Superman happens to fight on Krypton....well, he's fucked. So, not only do we need to choose 64 combatants, but we need to choose 24 sites, with Space Moon hosting the Final Four.

Certainly movies and comics are allowed source material....books could count. Bastard?

Yes, sites are where the battles are.

The heroes/villains come from either from comic books, TV shows and films for sure, I'm not sure about literature though. Otherwise every badass Greek god would be in here, that's for sure. I'd really like to include Beowulf and Hamlet in here though, maybe they can be exceptions?

They don't have to be entirely fictional though, take Bill the Butcher for example. He's based on a real dude, but he's still a B.A. to the max and more than worthy for this tourney.

It's like In Rain(lame)bows, it's up to you, really.

Bastard, VP....

I think you go ahead and submit your candidates, and decisions will be made.

Do we need limits? One hero and one villian, max, per film or comic? And, does that mean 6 villians and 6 heroes allowed for the 6 Star Wars films?

Moby Dick FTW. Unless he's fighting on land. Could he be considered a sympathetic villain?

Hamlet is a pussy who would get pwned in like 5 seconds while he was debating to be or not to be.

Nominations:

The Iron Giant
Dr. Manhattan (from Watchmen)
V (from V for Vendetta)
Dracula (Gary Oldman's version)

I think we shouldn't have a limit when we make the rough list, but try and keep it balanced when we get the 32.

Like for Star Trek, I'd want to do:

Capt. Picard
Capt. Kirk
Khan
maybe Sisko

and for Wars:

Han Solo
Luke Skywalker
Palpy
Vader
Obi-Wan Kenobi
Yoda
maybe Mace Windu, I don't know.

I know I had:

John McClane (Die Hard series)
Ellen Ripley (Aliens)
Snake Plissken (Escape from NY)
Marty McFly (BTTF)
Mal Reynolds (from Firefly)
The T-1000 (T2)
and Indy on my first list, too.

Han Solo and Luke Skywalker? Come on. Against all these supernatural motherfuckers? Solo is a great pilot and a decent shot but look how easily Vader took his piece away.

Luke was no match for Palpatine until Vader stepped in.

Let's have some perspective, please.

Although that kind of thinking is going to disqualify like half the suggestions here. I mean, Snake Plissken is a badass, but he's no match for the power of the FORCE.

Well,

Angel Eyes (Good/Bad/Ugly)
Frank (Once Upon A Time in the West)
The Man With No Name (Fistful of Dollars and such)
Leonard Smalls (Raising Arizona)
The Alien (Alien)
T-1000 (Terminator 2)
HAL 9000 (2001: ASO)
Vincent (Collateral)
Gay Perry (Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, the true hero of the film obviously)
Clarence Boddicker (RoboCop)
Ellen Ripley (Alien)
Batman (Batman Begins)
The Joker (Batman)
Nikolai Lushin (Eastern Promises..fuck yeah)
Leon (The Professional)
Rocky (Rocky)
Agent Smith (The Matrix)

for starters

Anton Chigurh is a shoo-in.

Same with Bill the Butcher. He just throws cleavers into bitches' backs.

I think people here are not prepared for the damage Paul Atriedes can and will cause.

Oh, I have nothing to contribute. I just like to see well thought out contests with clear guidelines, as opposed to people throwing things out all willy-nilly, that's all.

I was merely helping to clarify for others. I'm very helpful that way.

How very underwhelming.

Can Donkey Kong be a villain?

Or the bad guy from Tron?

Real B.A.s, you know.
