I'm glad to hear Wind Waker is a good game. Are there any other GameCube games worth buying?
Well it would depend on the type of gameplay you enjoy.

Raven is right, Tales Of Symphonia is an incredible game. If you like the whole RPG style of story telling and gameplay. It's not a tradition RPG in the fact that it's not turn-based (i.e. monster attacks then you and your team attack) it's more of a melee style combat. It also involves combos and techniques. Imagine a 3d-style Super Smash Bros. that's basically what it's like.

As for other GC games that are fun (this is all my opinion, just pick what you are interested in):

-Resident Evil 4
-Super Mario Sunshine
-The Legend Of Zelda: Four Swords Adventure (better with multiple players)
-Animal Crossing
-Harvest Moon (somewhat boring if you aren't into the whole farming aspect)
-Metroid Prime
-Metroid Prime 2:Echoes (i'm one of the few that thought this game was better than the original)
-Super Smash Bros. Melee (the absolute best game for Gamecube, hands down. Even better with friends)
-Tales Of Symphonia (70+hours of gameplay if you include sidequests)
-F Zero GX (i've heard good things about it though i don't own it)
-Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes
-Resident Evil
-Resident Evil 0
-Viewtiful Joe
-Killer 7 (somewhat a hit and miss, didn't get too many good reviews but it was unique)
-Paper Mario: And The Thousand-Year Door
-Baten Kaitos: Eternal Wings and the Lost Ocean (be warned this is a card-based RPG)
-Skies of Arcadia: Legends
-Fire Emblem: Path of Radiance (turn-based strategy game I think)
-Pikmin (super underrated, may be fun)
-Pikmin 2 (same as Pikmin 1)
-Mario Kart Double Dash!!

Collections/Compilations:

-Mega Man X Collection (Mega Man X-Mega Man X6)
-Sonic Mega Collection (Sonic 1,2,3 Sonic & Knuckles, Spinball and more)
-Mega Man Anniversary Collection (Mega Man 1-Mega Man8)
-The Legend Of Zelda: Collectors Disc (contains all Zeldas up to Majora's Mask) <-possibly hard to find! Expensive too for old games!

Thanks Raven and Cathere! I'll look into those games. I do like RPG but not the ones that are turn based which is why I've never gotten into Final Fantasy.

Haven't updated my gaming pals in a while, so here are the major stories in the industry. Keep in mind we are only DAYS away from E3! The air is electric, can you feel it? Anyway, some pretty good news for DS fans on both the original and re-modeled versions. A thinker: is XBox Live more innovative than the Wiimote? Also for you Socom fans, get ready for another dose of Navy SEALs. Plus, wow haven't heard from that series in a while!

Hmmm I wonder how Activision will do with 007. I wonder if they'll continue with the third person ones ala Everything Or Nothing and From Russia With Love or go back to FPS. I think the perfect 007 would be one where you could switch between first and third person.

Wowzers Penny! E3 is only 3 days away and boy are the rumors flying! Soon we will know the truth about all of our favorite companies and developers. And we thinks thats nice, imo. So gaming pals, not much important news to report. A few stories here and there. Glad to keep you posted!

For those of my gaming pals that missed the Sony Press Conference. Here are the updates that went down
http://www.gamespot.com/news/6149470.html

2 Noteworthy points in the event:

-PS3 controller has 3D movement. Sony copies Nintendo's ideas again? Watch the video and you be the judge.
-Release date will be November 11th with a price point of $499.99 for a 20gb Model and $599.99 for a 60gb Model.

Overall it was an incredibly boring presentation in my opinion. Barely any gamplay, while there was lots of CGI. MGS4 looks promising. FFXIII will be a hit no doubt. Nothing else really interested me besides Afrika simply because I have no clue what the heck the game is about. Well let's hear your thoughts Interference.

$600:|

I guess over here it is likely going to be around £350-450 mark, they like to round up in the conversion though:wink:, and then it is not even conversion more like, convert the price and whack an extra 50 to 100 quid on it.

MGS4 does look amazing, plus I am a big fan Kojima in general...I'm still waiting for another ZOE game:sad:

Sony's presentation by all accounts did sound dull as hell, i've only read about it and it was boring enough...what is this game Afrika I haven't read anything about it?

Nintendo though are bound to have a good presentation, they generally always do and they seem pretty fun:up:

So far it looks like I will get a Wii sometime in the Summer and then the PS3 sometime early to middle of next year hopefully...I just completely ignore the XBOX these days...I was tempted initially by the XBOX 360, but all the games just seem a trifle dull...plus anyway it looks like I was best staying away from buying XBOX 360 straight off..since some of them barely work:happy:

btw Catlhere thanks for providing all this news, even though we are a bit slow to reply, we appreciate it...as you are pretty good at disseminating the useful news from the boring news and bringing us delightful tidbits of information:cool:

So thanks mate:D

This is all they have on Afrika at the moment. Basically a recap of what we saw in the live stream.
http://www.gamespot.com/ps3/adventure/afrika/news.html?sid=6149514

As for more specifics on the pricing
"The 20GB will retail for $499 in the US (59800 yen in Japan, 499 euros in Europe), and the 60GB model will retail for $549 (open price in Japan, 599 euros in Europe). Sony expects to ship two million units in its first month of launch, four million by the end of the year, and six million by the end of its fiscal year, which ends in March 31. "

The thing to look at is the "open" price in Japan, meaning that retailers are going to be setting their own prices for the PS3. At least from what I heard on the stream.

News:

*The battle we have all been waiting for is almost ready to begin. Nintendo and Sony construct their floor plans for E3.
http://www.joystiq.com/2006/05/08/clash-of-the-consoles-a-sneak-peek/

Click on "read me" or the picture for a huger look. One thing I see that really grabs my attention obviously is the Pokemon kiosk. Now at first glace, it's nothing new, there are always Pokemon games at E3. But if you look closer at the display screens being used, there are two. This looks like a new game for the DS! If you look even closer at the enlarged picture, you can barely make out a blurry "Nintendo DS" right above the screens. Pokemon Diamond and Pearl look to be playable on the showroom floor! Definitely a surprise.

*Next-Gen Sonic The Hedgehog will have a strange new white-haired character thrown in the mix
http://www.joystiq.com/2006/05/08/next-gen-sonic-featuring-psychic-hedgehog-action/

*A few screenshots of the new Tony Hawk: Downhill Jam game in developement for Wii
http://www.joystiq.com/2006/05/08/screenshots-tony-hawk-wii/

Ouch, not impressed. These don't look too hot. Hopefully the graphics will be tweaked a bit more by release.

I am so getting the Wii.

Nothing about the 360 or the PS3 turns me on yet. Halo 3 would be nice, but I can wait. Unless MS has a major price drop, I'll go with Nintendo, which I understand will be priced @ $250.

Is the New Zelda  Wii only? Or Gameube too?

The Legend Of Zelda: Twilight Princess is a Gamecube developed game. It will however, be playable with Wii, as well as with Wii's controller. In other words, you can buy either the new low-priced Gamecube for 79.99, or Wii, and play Zelda on either. The only difference is the opportunity to use the Wiimote instead of the standard Gamecube controller.

Don't worry though, as Wii also allows Gamecube controllers to be plugged into the console if one feels uncomfortable playing on the Wiimote, so everyone should be fine no matter what preference they have.

Wii:

-In standby, Wii is still connected to the internet. "It never sleeps"
-Wii Sports utilizes Wiimote to play multiple types of sports
-AOL Sweepstakes chose 3 grand prize finalists. 1 will be chosen as the first person to play Wii in the world

The Wii is looking better and better. I've always been on the Nintendo bandwagon and I don't think I'm going to get off now.

Also strange enough the new name, Wii, has totally grown on me and I don't despise it like I did at first glance.

I think we all be shouting 'wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee', when we get our hands on the Wii:wink:
