mrs. robinson by the beatles or s & g is also ace.

Very clever. Hey, have you ever heard Radiohead play 'High and Dry' in concert? I don't think I've ever seen it on a set list.

PS. 'Into The Mystic' by Van Morrison is amazing, too.

Best ever?

Rock-wise I'd have to go with:

'Stairway to Heaven' by Led Zepp. The song that Tenacious D wrote "Tribute" about.

The best song of all time is one of the following:

U2 - Where The Streets Have No Name
Queen - Bohemian Rhapsody
Beatles - Yesterday
Van Morrison - Tupelo Honey
Led Zeppelin - NOT Stairway To Heaven! Instead, When The Levee Breaks.

Opus 40 - Mercury Rev
Madame George - Van Morrison
Fall on Me - REM
You and whose Army - Radiohead
Love letter - Nick Cave and his bad seeds

in my opinion...

u2-love is blindness
radiohead-wolf at the door (flan in the face...what more could you ask for? i love flan! and, y'know, it's a great song...)
jeff buckley-morning theft OR lover, you should've come over

of course, my favorite song of all time is really about 20 songs...

I'd also throw in

Fool's Gold - Stone Roses
Like a Rolling Stone - Bob Dylan

More I've thought of:

"God Put A Smile Upon Your Face" Coldplay- I don't know why but I love it.

"Tomorrow" U2- Underrated song on an underrated album.

Plus all U2 songs ever created :)

oh yeah and...

"Baba O'Riley" The Who- The ultimate rock song.
