I wanna go to London :hyper: My ideal summer trip-

End of June U2 in Ireland, them fly right over to London for L8 :combust:

It's sooo not happening :grumpy:

there is a UK newspaper that is supporting make poverty history, on monday morning you have to send a text to number that would be printed in that paper and cross your fingers you get picked, i'd rather try and buy them

yeah i have heard of the competition but isn´t hyde park a relatively opened area? it was also said there were no tickets and it was free. so i wonder if its
1. either a publicity trick by the newspaper or
2. if you really have to get tickets and don´t get any, the chances might be pretty good of listening to the whole concert from a nice place in hyde park?

hmmm.. i goess i wont be in london at that time, but if i knew i could see the concert, i´d probably book a cheap flight.. the setup is just too incredible.

yeah you really have to win them :( here's what the officially live 8 website says:

Tickets for the LIVE 8 London concert in Hyde Park will be allocated via a text competition.

For the chance to win a pair of tickets to the London event you will need to enter the text competition - you can enter as many times as you like - there are 72,500 pairs of tickets to be won.

Details of the text number and competition will be announced on the 6th June - via all UK r adio s tations & BBC Television. No entries will be accepted before 00:01 on the 6th June.

Each entry costs £1.50* plus your operator's standard text charge.

The competition will close at midnight on the 12th June and winners will be chosen at random by computer and notified by text message after the 13th June with details of how they can collect their tickets - either online or from collection points around the UK.

Due to the tight deadlines we are working to, you will need to be able to collect your tickets within ten days of notification of winning, otherwise you will forfeit them.

will be coming from germany for it, already booked a cheap flight today and now i'm just hoping we can actually send text messages to this number from germany. if not, i'm gonna be there anyway, hopefully we can get tickets some other way, i just can't miss that..

i'm new by the way

If Philly adds some more interesting performers (Bruce????) I might consider going. But for right now, it isn't worth the 6 hour drive.

The Philly show isn't having a texting competition for free tickets. They haven't disclosed how to get them yet, all I can ascertain is this: "Other Venues
Other venues do not require tickets – details on how to attend will follow shortly"

I'm going to drive 7 hours to see this. This is a big deal, this is an oppurtunity to really be part of this whole 'journey of equality' during the week before the G8 meetings--count me in.

Stars, I'm thinking about going to Philly too. I got an email from my coordinator at DATA and the subject was something about "Free concerts..." so we know it will be free at least. The email didn't give any other info on Philly though, just Hyde Park. I have to check flights and stuff before I decide, but it would be nice to know more about the plan~!!

I'm definetly going!

I actually have a telephone meeting with a rep from DATA about some related things either later tonight or tommorow...I will be sure to try and get all the info I can.

(I think it's awesome that you're gonna be flying from the other end of the country for this!)

Just saw this

I'm considering Philly right now - the problem here is Philly or save for more u2 concerts in the fall. If the Philly show would switch with the London show I might already be camped out waiting:lol:

still this is an opportunity of a lifetime....
