as one rabid bono fan to another im glad im not the only one going! maybe all the plebans that are going could meet each other there and talk bono, and act all stupid about him after the speech
or maybe corner him and force him to bite all of us

and thats the reason i cant see bono
even though this is the first time i have ever gotten the chance to see him in person......

maybe i will be able to afford to see them on the tour. i need general admission so i can sit and wait for a whole day to get good seats! then i can be the 'girl' who gets to dance
oh what a nice little dream world i live in
just to clear something up, that sounded pretty pathetic that i wouldnt go see bono cuz im going to see my guy in november. the reason was that i just bought a round trip plane ticket that was really expensive so i could go see him in nov.
so im broke and couldnt go see bono
but now i am
at least something is going right lately

Both

I'm arriving on the 19th around 4pm. Booked myself a room at the Holiday Inn it's pretty close to the arena and they provide a shuttle service within 5 miles to surrounding attractions. It would be nice to meet up with other plebans though I'm only a newbie.

newbies count!! i will get there on the 20th sometime in the afternoon because i live on the beach like 2 hours away. i dont really know portland very well otherwise i would suggest a meeting place for people to go to.
knowing me i will get lost on the way and be full of nerves by the time i actually get there
i was hoping there might be a chance of glimpsing bono outside the venue if i got there early enough but who knows

You're just two hours away lucky you! Right now my biggest concern is if Mount St. Helens decides to blow her top. All the ash could cause flight problems in the Pacific Northwest which could screw up my plans.

Hehe, WHOA...As much as I would love to get arrested by security and spend the evening in jail with you all, my friends need to get back to school and other commitments the next day. Though personally I think we'll be too hopped up on Bono pheromones to actually care about school/other commitments for a few days... Anyway, we're leaving right after and driving the 6 hours home. It will be dark and scary, but that was our compromise for going. It made sense when we decided on it, but now I'm thinking a hotel might not have been such a bad idea.

Also, of the people who are going, does anyone have any sort of recording equipment? I doubt any of us could set up a tripod and film it, but maybe someone could record the audio like people do at concerts? I don't have any taping equipment unfortunately, or I would do it myself...Hopefully the Council will record it somehow, but I don't know if they will make it available to us.

As a member of the WAC I really hope you guys will visit the World Affairs Council of Oregon web site. That way you will know exactly what kind of event this will be.

It's a speaking engagement has nothing to do with U2 as a music group I think we are all aware of that. After so many sound bites of Bono airing his view I felt compelled to hear the man in person.

i know bono will blow the pants off all the people there. hes so good at speaking to all kinds of people about anything.
im so happy i get to see him doing something he loves and is passionate about. his passion is one of the things that makes him such a beautiful person.
man, a 6 hour drive both ways for bono. thats really cool. if you wanna go stay at my place after you can! im on the hwy 101 route to california..that IS where youre coming from isnt it?
anyway, theres a nice livingroom carpet available if anybody needs it. i have to go to work the next day so i will be jetting it back home right after...that is unless bono roams around and talks to people or something
then i might not be seen for days
ahhh! bono speaking in my state! *calms the girly nerves and trys to convince herself to remain calm during the speech*
by the way, where is everybody sitting
im in the mezzanine section in 206 or something. im gonna feel really stupid if everybody has better seats than me

Lol, I promise not to scream and slobber all over myself when Bono enters the room. Actually, I'm a very calm, quiet sort of person and I will not bring shame down upon the PLEBA community through any embarassing displays.

I actually went to the website back when I first heard about the event, and it didn't really provide that much information about the event itself. I'm assuming he will speak and then answer questions in a moderated discussion, similar to that Kaiser Family Foundation talk he did last year. In fact, if you go to this part of the site, you can submit a question: http://www.worldoregon.org/events/iss.php

Yeah, my friends and I are dedicated sorts of people to drive that far in one day...I hang out on U2 websites and trade dvds. My friends have spent summers volunteering in African orphanages. Basically, none of us could justify missing it...

Thanks very much for the offer of a place to stay! That's very kind of you! But we're actually driving in a different direction, to Spokane, WA, up near Idaho. And the main issue is that my friends actually WANT to go to school the next day. Yeah, I don't get it either. Actually, they both pulled some strings to have their midterms earlier in the week, so they decided they couldn't afford to tick off any more professors. Though surprisingly, several of their professors said they would love to join us if they could...

Our tickets are in section 203, row N, seats 15-17

i couldnt justify missing it either. i need some kind of pleasure in my life right now considering most of it has been yanked away from me lately. i just did a really long drive through idaho. it was a little longer than yours though. like 28 hours. i did it to spend time with my boyfriend before he left for a year. i hate long car rides, you poor girl. even if its is 6 hours instead of 28!
i think we might be semi close in seating compared to *somebody* ahem, with ground seats
i cant remember what the exact seating arrangement is, but were in the same level.
eek! cant be pissing off professors. not a good thing
but if they went then you could all justify not being there!
